Even with a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 device will still be a lot faster than a USB 2.0 device. Using the analogy of a pipe, a USB 3.0 device sends the data down the pipe at massive rate, maximizing the pipes capacity. Thus resulting to a faster file transfer compared to a USB 2.0 device.
