Climate Change in Asia: Addressing Vulnerability, Fostering Adaptation Asia-Pacific is arguably the most vulnerable region to the adverse effects of climate change. In 2011 alone, we have seen floods deluge 11 out of 25 districts and destroy 125,000 acres of rice fields in Sri Lanka, claim over 800 lives in Thailand, leaving 1.2million people displaced and over 200 dead in Cambodia. And in southern Philippines, tropical storm Sendong (international name: Washi) left over 50,000 homeless and took more than 1000 lives.
