New blog post: Foo Fighters caused tremors in Auckland

When they say Foo Fighters rock Auckland, they mean literally. According New Zealand’s GeoNet blog , 2 seismic stations in the Auckland GeoNet seismic network recorded tremor similar to volcanic activities. The cause of the tremor is traced to the Foo Fighters concert on 13 December 2011. The shakes were most likely caused by the weight of the 50,000 fans dancing. The GeoNet’s recordings show lulls between songs and peaks in intensity during the songs. At it’s peak, the ground was shaking 3 times per second in a nice rhythmic motion. It is actually no surprise if you have seen a Foo Fighters concert. Here’s the Foo Fighters singing one of my favorite songs.
