Was Bernard Chandran's Spring/Summer 2012 collection inspired by vintage 1950s sci-fi?

Bernard Chandran put up a sci-fi tinged collection that echoed sentiments of the 1950s. Gold and silver metallics, greys, greens, turquoise, pink and black made up the palette of an emotionally uplifting set of dresses and separates that hark back to more a more glamorous time. A time when the item du jour were dresses, and gloves (as seen on the runway) were the hallmark of a lady, but also a time when polish and sophistication, the kind of style you can’t buy, was the order of the day.
