The Oxford English Dictionary USA Word of the Year 2012 is…… GIF!!! GIF: verb to create a GIF file of (an image or video sequence, especially relating to an event): he GIFed the highlights of the debate By the way, in case you are till wondering, it is pronounced at “Jif“ . Not “Gif”. Looks like 2012 is a big year for GIF. The compressed file format for images celebrated its 25th Birthday in June this year . And now it is chosen as the word of the year by Oxford English Dictionary. Congrats! But I must say that we don’t usually use GIF as a verb. Maybe it is more common in the US.
