Private security firm Certis Cisco announced yesterday that they were planning to recruit up to 120 graduates from Taiwan for auxiliary police officer (APO) positions in Singapore. To entice these graduates, Certis Cisco would be offering the following: 1. $2,675 a month 2. Air-conditioned accomodation 3. Health Insurance 4. Annual Bonus 5. Overtime pay 6. S$2,000 joining bonus 7. $2,000 bonus upon completion of a two-year contract News of this overseas recruitment caused netizens to question whether the jobs could have gone to Singaporeans instead: Other netizens however argued that perhaps Singaporeans were not willing to take up the job: A check on Certis Cisco’s webpage shows that Singaporeans with an ‘N’ Level education can apply to be an APO with the following benefits: More than half of the 7,000 APOs are Singapore citizens, while Permanent Residents and Malaysians ...
