If both parties are working, as is probably the case in Singapore, it seems the best way to handle money as a couple is to have both a joint account as well as separate personal accounts. Have a chat on what goes into the joint account and what it is supposed to be spent on, but keep personal accounts for your own spending. Everyone works hard for their money and has the right to spend it as they will. How fun is it to work hard then have someone nag you when you feel like splurging on something nice every now and then?
