Trading REITs

Trading REITs? Why not? Occasionally, trading opportunities do exist in certain REITs. I am not talking about the usual trend trading which I used for growth stocks. Instead, I adopted the ‘buy-for-rebound’ strategy by buying on price weaknesses. I have a watchlist that contains mainly the REITs and high-yield stocks (they form part of my ‘Retirement Portfolio’, which I invest rather than trade). I keep the dividend payouts up-to-date so that I can make reference to quickly and on a weekly basis, I will check through their charts to see their recent price behaviour. CapitaMall Trust (CMT) and Ascendas REIT (AREIT) are two that are high up on the list which I pay attention to. They are the largest REITs in their respecitve Retail and Industrial sector and are considered the bellwether for their sectors.
