While walking around Smith Street Food Centre sourcing for food, we were intrigued by chicken rice stall with a odd name, so we decided to give it a try. Why called Maria? Because the owner who turned head chef, Mdm Siew, wanted to pay tribute to her sworn sister Maria Cordero (肥媽瑪俐亞), who was a well known singer, actress and chef from Macau. Why virgin chicken? Because Mdm Siew thinks it was a interesting name and people will be drawn by it. True enough, we were drawn by it and had a plate of chicken rice. When the chicken rice arrived, I was surprised to see the topping of soy beans on top of the chicken. I used to eat something similar when I was a kid, and eating this again brings back memories!
