Singaporean women are "too overly practical"?

I agree. Increasing the number of university places for locals is not going to help. There is already a huge gap between what our education provides and what our industry needs thanks to our govt’s “cut and paste” approach in developing our industry. They are just interested in bringing in industries that offer short-term GDP growth. First, they said manufaturing is the way. Then, IT is the future. After that, biotechnology. Next, financial sevices. After the 2008 financial crisis, they swing to MICE industries (i.e. Integrated Resorts). Maybe next year, they decided to bring in the nuclear industry. And as per normal, our ever-growing graduates are not up to it because education curriculum cannot repond as fast. So what’s the solution? Bring in more foreign workers. We need them, they’d say.
