Law to combat online piracy

There are two proposals to pass a law against online piracy in the USA. They are known by the acronym SOPA and PIPA. Someone asked me for my views on these proposed legislation - especially if a similar legislation is being considered in Singapore. I prefer to let this matter be handled by the experts. I understand that Google has taken a stand against certain key provision of the proposed law, such as blocking certain websites. So, I have no comments. If anyone wish to express a view about this legislation, and if it is good or bad for consumers in Singapore, they can post their comments here.
