There’s a list of places that we were told never to go to in Johannesburg when we first came here.. and we’ve been defiant and have been to like almost all of them.. including Soweto , Hillbrow and Diepsloot . We can now check the Inner City of Johannesburg off that list as well. This is Downtown Johannesburg. The once-upon-a-time bustling CBD of the city. It was probably South Africa’s version of New York City Wall Street at one time. But that was during the Apartheid days, when the whites ruled the country. Taking a walk in this area, even with a group of fellow photography enthusiasts, was not easy for us. I felt the tension as soon as we arrived. Some of the people we saw along the streets had very hard looks on their faces. They were curious and we were not welcomed by everyone.
