So, it was MCYS Day today, meaning all the staff of Youth.SG — well, actually, only Nisha, Yani and I, as everyone else was either sick, had meetings elsewhere, or had to attend to an emergency — didn’t go into the office but instead went to the Singapore Sports School to mark the occasion.
The first half of the day was taken up by speeches and presentations on MCYS’ achievements, as well as awards given out, but after lunch it was time for the MCYS Fiesta, where different divisions set up stalls and booths. I know, very secondary school, right? Anyhow, the Youth Division stall had people trying to pick up marbles with chopsticks. Not easy — while the record was 89, I only managed 19 in three minutes.
Unfortunately, the event became pretty dull and draggy after a while, causing me to check if I could leave early — they said I could — and so I did, but not before the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for MCYS, Mr Teo Ser Luck, treated everyone to his rendition of 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), which he said was a favourite song of his mother’s. How nice.
Anyhow, just thought I’d share. I’d like to know what’s the thing you’ve done most recently that reminded you of your younger days as a child?
