Yesterday was day 1 of being a professional bum. One of the quickest thing i’ve learned was that one, i’m a slow reader, two, it’s freezing in the library. My first read is a comic series, Celestial Zone 21. Which features characters in Singapore drawing Celestial Zone which is also by the same artist, i think. Cute. Anyway, there are 23 books i think and i’ve finished up to 12. Probably gonna take another one or two days to finish. Gotta find out a way to deal with the freezing cold in the library. Which doesn’t include bringing jackets or fattening myself that is. Met with Ling and very fond verily Christian friend for lunch at Vivocity yesterday. Hmm.. maybe that’s why i can’t find girlfriends. I always hang out with married women !! But of course you know the truth. I’m a gutless wimp, lol. Anyway, they began telling me all sort of job offers which i told them simply, “Tell me about it next year.”. So yeah.. that’s it. If anyone wants to tell me about job offerings, please, do it next year. Anyway, the conversation then shifted to what i was gonna do everyday. Very fond verily Christian friend asked me, “What is your life goal(s)?”. I said that it was a very complex question, in return i asked her back. She said she didn’t have any goals at first, and then i guess inspiration hit her and she said her goals is all in her sons. Her goals were to see that her sons grow up well and lead fufilling lives. Today, after a night’s sleep and after finishing Heroes season 2, i’ve got a rejoinder. My life goal is to live everyday for itself without working or thinking about the tomorrow. To be a professional bum !! Lol. How about that for life goals. And to quote a phrase from very fond verily Christian friend, which sometimes i don’t quite agree with, “To each his own”. How is it that anyone can disagree with the phrase “To each his own”? Isn’t it like, “We agree to disagree.”. Aren’t such phrases the key to free expression (in more local terms: free speech) that allows a person to respect the differences in opinions of others? How could i not agree with such a phrase? I guess the key to understanding it is to understanding that agreeing to disagree is not a key to free expression. It is merely a utility that is part of free expression. But i won’t talk about this for now. Maybe i’ll come back to this some day. Before i leave off, let’s have a thought experiment; What if someone said: “My life goal is to obtain lots of drugs to feed my kids.”. What do we say to such a person? Can we even say, “To each his own”? Would it be a moral choice of words?
