i am an absolute failure at baking because i seem to be a recipe-rebel, always altering the portions and substituting ingredients so obviously nothing turns out right. sometimes there are suprises but that happen very rarely.today i decided to quit whining about the double-boiled pear soup and tried to make some on my own. made the most out of the simple 'kitchen' we have at the lodge, after 1 hour of boiling it was done.i think i do best with experimenting and estimation of recipes. Mom gave me vague instructions on how to do it and I got it right. After that made porridge for dinner because the flu isn't cleared up at all and based on what i remembered, i cooked up something similar which my maid would prepare if I'm ill.In relation to my musical skills, I think it is very similar as well. I am hopeless at sightreading and following the score accurately because I tend to memorise a tune and steer off-course after awhile. Listening by ear and improvising, with a general musical direction is much more simpler and comfortable for me.Perhaps I just don't like rules, or living life as planned. Just a general direction and idea..and I'll get there.
