3 months in Brisbane and my desire of having a bike is fading. Quick. The reason being that Aussie drivers are a bunch of..poo. I've heard of horror stories but I wanted to see it for myself. The attitude of drivers, and the bikelanes are not exactly ideal. The bikelanes to UQ happen to be shared with the buses, and the roads are usually so narrow that the width of the bus fits the lane. The cars are not very forgiving towards cyclists as well, but I guess that happens in many countries..SG as well. However this takes the cake...Angry motorist slams brakes on in front of OlympiansThe cream of the country's cyclists, including Olympic gold medallists, believe the enraged driver could have killed them on a busy Sydney road yesterday. They were infuriated further when passing motorists jeered and abused them as they lay sprawled on the road. This goes to prove the bad behaviour of drivers wasn't limited to the psychopathic driver but passing motorists shared the same hatred for cyclists as well.So the only sensible thing here is not to join the group of cyclists who are so much detested and abused on the roads. I guess I will stick to public transport for some time, till I find a solution out of this.
