What about this which actually happened to me this May in Spain. During my Camino de Santiago from Sevilla to Santiago de Compostela (1000 km pilgrimage walk in Spain), I happen to pass the town of Galisteo. The town library was closed (Sunday) but I detected a decent unencrypted Wifi signal outside the public library and proceeded to use my cell phone’s Wi-Fi to check my mail. I even made a couple of VOIP calls home via Fring (Skype for Nokia phones). I guess I must have looked funny sitting outside the library pushing buttons and talking loudly while trying to make sure the mobile phone is as close to the shut gate as possible. That should win the prize for the craziest way to get Wi-Fi connections, don’t you think?
