Yo! Sushi, The Gardens, Mid Valley City Simon Says: 醉酒佬数街灯,不知几盏After getting my facial at MTM in the Gardens. I heard my stomach's growling. So, I went around and look for food. I passed by Yo! Sushi. I read some review about it but haven't try it yet. So, in I went. The defacto soya sauce and wasabi.YO! Sushi is a kaitenzushi (回転寿司) restaurant much like Sushi King, Genki Sushi and Sakae Sushi's concept but it's food here is more towards fusion. Maybe it's because Yo! Sushi is originated from UK.The summer special menuEven thought it says Yo! Sushi but there's actually a lot of other ala carte choices. First from the conveyor belt I saw this. Attracted by the bright yellow chrysanthemum. I think the name is Salmon Spinach with Sesame and Chrysanthemum salad. Orange coloured side plate means RM 10.This is quite a new combination for me. The spinach is drench on Japanese sytle salad sauce. Eaten with the salmon is quite appetizing. The turn off is that I found that the salmon is a bit warm. I mean, I like to eat my raw salmon with a chill. That's the con of kaiten.Rating: 3/5Next up. LOL. Another salad. I feel so healthy wtf. Blue colour means RM 5 if not mistaken. Tofu Wakame Salada (Japanese Tofu and Seaweed Salad) I found this salad is a bit bland and the tofu and wakame a bit dry. Good for a monk and someone who's on a diet. I won't take this from the conveyor belt on the next visit.Rating: 2.5/5Next, ah, alas a sushi. Tamago Sushi (Egg Sushi). Green means RM 3. Well, all I can say is that this is a total turn off. Looks nice here but once I bit into it there's water coming out from the egg. It's either they put it on the conveyor belt for too long or there's something really wrong with the air-conditioning in the shop.Rating: 0/5After some dissapointment Off the belt, I decided to Order now.And the chef prepares my Order now.First up from order now. A purple coloured RM 8 sushi. Seared Beef sushi with a dash of mayonnaise. Nothing can go wrong when the beef is seared to that colour. This is the first time I eat beef sushi. Personally I don't think beef makes a very good ingredient for sushi but this one goes quite well with the sushi rice.Rating: 3.5/5How can one come to eat sushi without eating a temaki sushi (hand roll sushi). I ordered a Salmon Belly temaki. Crispy nori (seaweed) roll around a meaty salmon belly. Slurp. Enough said.Rating: 3.5/5Ah, the last of my order, the much rave about Miso Black Cod. It does live up to the raving. Fat juicy cod meat marinated in sweet miso sauce, which in turn makes it easier to eat without the jelak feeling. Grey means RM 16. The most expensive colour. This dish sure save the day.Rating: 4/5Well, some hit and misses. I think it's better to Order now than to eat Off the belt which will guarantee the freshness of the food. It's a bit pricier compared with Sushi Zanmai. I don't mind coming back once in a while for he Miso Black Cod and some of their creative sushi and ala carte.Address:Gardens MallLower Ground FloorThe Gardens GaleriaMid Valley CityLingkaran Syed Putra59200 Kuala LumpurPavilion MallLevel 1 Pavilion Kuala Lumpur168 Jalan Bukit Bintang55100 Kuala LumpurOther ppl's view:Masak-masakWe Ate ThisXLBYapThomasTock TockCheesieOn the side track:After a light meal in Yo! (Well, we'll see about that at the final)Hannah and Pietro doing their stuffAll the 15 finalist with Hannah and PietroAfter the formal introduction, there was a small refreshment prepared. I, of course get my tummy stuff first. LOL. After that I went around and have a small chat with each of the finalist. Oh, this is the first time I meet Martian. The month of August is birthday month for a lot of friends and blogger friends I knew. Coming next month will be my sis' and Chimp's birthday. Chimp and Oily just treated me dinner tonight in Pasta Zanmai, 1 Utama. Which I had my lips and teeth literally blackened by the Squid Ink and Squid Pasta that I had. So, I will have to buy a present for her.I am one lazy person that have no patience in shopping for present, and this is a present for the opposite sex. What will I get her? Hmm.. maybe a dress but I am also a person with very bad fashion taste. Usually I'll just going and grab a dress at first sight and that's it. Then I came into this site call Cocorich.com, which is an online boutique which will let you purchase the dress or blousse or skirt that is in the site online. Now I can sit in comfort in front of the PC and slowly browse through the dress, blousse or skirt that might be suitable for Chimp or any other female friend and buy one as a birthday present. The Movie Simon Says: Happy Birthday! Val on 20th of Aug.When I first watched the trailer of Mamma Mia! The Movie, I didn't know it was based on a musical. What is familiar to me is that Mamma Mia is a song sang by ABBA, a famous Swedish group back in the 70's and 80's. One of their other famous songs are Money, Money, Money and Dancing Queen both have very catchy tune that you'll feel like humming or dancing to it.Only from the the Morning Breakfast Show on NTV7 two weeks ago I knew that Mamma Mia! The Movie is based on the musical Mamma Mia and featured songs written and sang by ABBA. After this movie came out in London, the sales of ABBA's album hit the top in the music chart in England again after two decades. These movie version of Mamma Mia! Featured great actors and actresses such as Pierce Brosnan, and Meryl Streep. Also I am eager to listen to the catchy tunes of ABBA again in the movie. So, what are you waiting for? Nuffnang is now having a contest that you can win yourselft tickets for Mamma Mia! The Movie in not one but two location. KL and Penang. So bloggers from Penang also get to win the tickets.Money, money, money. It's so funny in a rich man's world. Mamma mia, here I go again. I Am in Malay Mail Today Well, sort of. In my previous post, the dinner in New Formosa was published in today's Malay Mail in the Blogspot column by Gabey. My name and blog was mentioned lol. Thanks to BBO and also Gabey. First time my name and blog appeared in a newspaper. Here's the excerpt. Click here for the full write up and here for BBO's interview with Blogspot.Woot! New Formosa Restaurant, SS2 Simon Says: HP + AMD are giving out scholarship worth RM 25,000 in cash and a HP Notebook is included in it. Find out how you can get the scholarship here.Warning: Tidak Ditanggung HalalRead a lot about this restaurant from the foodies' blog. Always wanted to try but can't find enough people to go with me. Won't be able to eat a lot if only 2 or 3 people go. Thanks to Food Street and BBO for inviting me to this food tasting session thus I will be able come to New Formosa Restaurant and have a go at the good and yummy food. Already been operating for 29 years. Same as me yo!Thanks to Aidan from Food StreetAt first I don't know this dinner was organized by Food Street. When I reached there BBO were not there yet so I don't dare to go inside. After Sidney and Sunny reached, then only we going. The first dish was already served.Formosa Special Combination Dish, consist of Fried Butter Eel, Jelly fish in Garlic Sauce, Deep Fried Pig Intestine with Sesame, Fried Spare Ribs with Pickled Pineapple, and Rice Crust, Popped Rice with pork & fish maw in black pepper sauce.Pork rib with pickled pineappleThe sauce is not overly sweet and the pork rib is cook to the right timing. This is a very appetizing dish.Rating: 3.5/5 Fried Butter EelI get that the cook have this dish fried in the right temperature and timing, which makes the outside crunchy and the eel meat inside still smooth and tender. If it is not too salty this will score very high in the combination.Rating: 3/5Jelly fish in Garlic SauceThe texture of the jelly fish is very chewy and fresh but the taste is a bit bland. Maybe it is suppose to be not overly flavoured to retain the natural sea flavour of the jelly fish.Rating: 3/5Shark's fin soup with fresh crab meat, shredded baby scallops & bamboo pitchA very delicious shark's fin soup that have a lot of goodies inside. Not too much corn starch was put in so it still have a soupy texture in it instead of a gluey texture like some of the shark's fin soup you eat in a wedding banquet. I especially like the bamboo pitch's texture in the soup. No vinegar is needed for this soup, adding in the vinegar will spoiled the taste of the stock.Rating: 3.5/5Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig Hong Kong StyleIt's been a long time I never eaten roasted suckling pig. As a pork fan this dish doesn't disappoints me at all. The skin is crispy indeed. There's a choice of sweet sauce or white vinegar as dip. I usually will put a piece of spring onion and then dip a bit of sweet sauce to eat with a piece of roasted suckling pig. Reminder not to dip too much sweet sauce because the taste is very strong.Rating: 3.5/5Jeanie the lady boss showing us the pork lard from the suckling pig, which is a proof that this piglet was not injected with growth hormone.Besides Aidan, his gf and his parents, BBO, and me. Gabey from Malay Mail was also there. Below here is Gabey's photographer colleague.Professional at work.Grilled Garlic tiger prawns & Fried TV butter prawnsThe prawns used are fresh. I like personally prefer the grilled garlic tiger prawn because I like garlic. A garlic paste is put on top of the prawn's body and grilled together. Garlic after being grilled will have a very appetizing aroma. Yummy. We're served Taiwanese Sour Plum juice to help digestion. Sorry, I didn't take the picture of the juice, too focus on the food.Rating: 3.5/5Steamed Canadian Sea Bass with Chinese mushrooms, salted cabbage & tomatoThis is my most favourite dish of the night. Sea Bass steamed in Teo Chew style. At first look, it looks like Cod Fish. Jeanie told us that it is more delicious than cod, and she is right. Using Teo Chew style for this fish is a right decision because the meat is rich with fish oil. There is fish oil surrounding in between the meat. Thus using a sourish based gravy for this fish will not make u feel 'jelak' after eating it. Never knew that sea bass can be so delicious.Rating: 4.5/5Fried Asparagus, Fresh lily buds, Gingko nut, lotus roots and pumpkin .This mixed vegetables dish serve at the right time after so many meaty dishes. It gave me a feeling of cleansing the oil from the meat that I ate. Also the first time I eat pumpkin cooked this way. It's not bad too.Rating: 3.5/5Steamed yam rice in hollow bamboo Taiwanese Haaka styleAccording to Jeanie whom is from Taiwan. Yam is a mainstay ingredient in Taiwan where a hundreds different kind of dishes can be created using it. I found that the yam rice is really appetizing and it is not overly flavoured which you can still taste some of the yam. Even though I was already quite full by the time this dish was served, I was still able to finish a bowl.Rating: 4/5 My bowl of yam rice.Time for dessert, and boy there's so many different kind of dessert that night. Usually in a set there's only one kind of dessert.Mua CheeNothing much to say about the mua chee, which is quite normal to me.Rating: 3/5The staff preparing the Sweet Yam coated with Maltose and SesameThis is the best dessert of all the dessert that night. The coating of maltose is hardened when cool, so it will give you a crunch when you bite into it but the sweet yam will still be warm and soft. The combination of both is just perfect. Just right for someone like me that is not too keen on overly sweet stuff.Rating: 4/5Sweet yam beautifully coated with maltose and sesame.Yam ginkgo (no lard, low sugar). One of the assorted pudding. This is the only warm pudding of the 4.From the back, Green Tea Aloe Vera, Honey herbal and Custard CaramelThe 3 jelly like pudding is like well, jelly. Taste is quite normal for me. The yam ginko is more like a yam paste rather than a pudding, which is very nice. Jeanie told us that for those that work in front of the computer for a long time should drink more green tea and eat more seaweed. Both are good with anti-oxidant property.Rating: 3/5On the sideline, BBO brought with them two special dessert made from durian. D24 woi, don't pray-pray. Thanks to them I won't missed out the durian season this year. Usually I won't purposely go and buy durian to eat. Egg skin with durian mousse filling.Fills with durian.Jeanie commented, if the skin is thinner then if will be perfect. I totally agreed. Just like the skin from Scrumptious Dessert which is quite thin. Chocolate Durian Mousse cakeFirst time I ate durian with chocolate. An interesting combination. At the back: Sidney of BBOFront from the left: Jeanie the taukeh soh of New Formosa, and Gabey from Malay MailIt was a fulfilling meal for me that night. Thanks again to Aidan, Sidney, Sunny and Jeanie. That night also is the first time meeting Sunny. Usually I communicate with Sidney most from the blog. It was fun listening to Jeanie talking about her experience in the food & beverage industry. She's also consultant for TV station on production of cooking and eating programmes.Overall there's the food here is at a good quality in terms of taste and freshness. For a restaurant that's been operating for 29 years, for sure there's something that keeps attracting the customer to come back. I think that is having a passion to serve the best of quality food to your customer. Jeanie is one of those restaurateur cum chef that do that for her customer.Address:46, Jalan SS2/24,47300 Petaling Jaya,Selangor, MalaysiaTel/Fax: 03-7729 0000Email: formosa@streamyx.comOpen Daily: 12pm - 3pm & 6pm - 11pmGoogle Map here.Other Ppl's View:IpohMaliMasak-masakPrecious PeaA Whiff of LemongrassKampungBoyCityGalBroughtUp2ShareYou Get What You GiveFoodlah3-Meals My Genting Trip To Watch Dreamz Simon Says: Lee Chong Wei got Silver Medal in Olympic Badminton Men Single. Some of the DGMBians went there to claim theirs on Saturday. You can read it here. I took a Genting Express from 1 Utama. Have to reached there by 3p.m. to get the room that I booked in First World Hotel.Taking Genting Express from 1 Utama cost me only RM 8.50 one way, RM 5 for the Skyway and RM 3.50 for the bus trip. It only takes about 45 minutes to reach Genting Skyway and another 10 minutes to reach Highland Hotel using the cable car. Me camwhoring on the cable car.View from the cable car.Reached First World Hotel about 2p.m. and there's loads of people waiting to check in. I got my queueing number and there's about 90 ppl before me. -_-So I ate tuna sandwich in Starbucks which is definitely overpriced. After 1 hour of waiting, I finally able to get the key card to my room. Just nice, 3p.m. I can check-in.Hungry Ghost Festival month, kind of eerie. My room.Looks comfy. Not 5 star but good enough to stay for a night. It was raining when I got into my room. Alas, I can put the Jordan GO! given to me by Christine to good use.My tickets for DREAMZI took a nap and when I woke up it was already 8.30 p.m., only half an hour to show time. So I had a quick dinner here. The portion is so small. Ok, supper after the show. The teh that come in the set.DREAMZ is overall a good show. The magic is just too predictable except that, the other performance is good entertainment. But the Japanese family sitting behind me seems to be amazed by the magic tricks. Occasionally heard the lady speaking "Eh..." (e - expression in Japanese to express amazement) and "sugoi" (outstanding). After the show I went to Coffee Terrace, Genting Hotel to have supper. The room comes with free breakfast buffet in First World Hotel. Shown here is Western style with the normal sausage, ham, and baked beans.Nasi Lemak. Eggs, a choice of Cheese Omlete or Over Easy. Cornflakes. As I'm very kiasu, I had the about 4 to 5 rounds of breakfast before going back to my room for an hour of more sleep. View from a window in First World. After checking out, I went to have hot coffee in Starbucks. Not everyday can have hot coffee in cold weather. And not every day you can sleep in cold weather. Model of hotels in Genting Highland. When I was taking the Skyway going down to the bus station, I saw the Ah Pek (old man) in front of me tearing paper to pieces and then threw out the cable car. He did that all the way from the beginning to the end of the journey. Look at the white dot between the first pole. See the pieces of white paper floating down.Sigh, what a funny old man. Snapshot This Week This week was so packed with events and dinners. A little bit of what happened this week. Will elaborate further in each post later.1. Finally my Nuffnang Moolah has arrived. Imperial Treasure Nan Bei, Ngee Ann City Warning: Tidak Ditanggung HalalGetting over my Facebook Photo Album, I found that there's still some food that I haven't post yet for my trip to Singapore way back in May. So the next day after my uninvited visit to Nuffnang office, my brother-in-law brought us to eat dim sum in Imperial Treasuer Nan Bei, Ngee Ann City. A typical yum cha set up.Ruth can't wait to eat. This restaurant is in a shopping center and part of it is not covered by wall. Boss Ming passed by here and saw me. We say hi and he went on his way.Ruth choosing her favourite dim sum. What's nice is that the staff that took our order can speak Cantonese, hence easy for us to order because some of the dim sum if spoken in Mandarin just feel weird. For me lah.A long list of our orders:Xiao Lung Bao, Wo Tip, Gun Dong Gao (Shark Fin dumpling in soup), Crystal Prawn Dumpling, and Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Steam Bun)Scallop Chee Cheong Fun, Beef Meatball with Vegetable, Scallop and Spinach Dumpling, Tied Chicken Meat with 4 Treasure, Fried Salad Prawn Puff, Custard Salty Egg Yolk Bun, and Kuih LapisFresh Prawn Wantan Mee, Century Egg and Lean Pork Poriddge, and Scholar Poriddge (Pork Liver Poriddge)Well, words alone is hard to describe. Let us move on with the picture of the food.Century Egg and Lean Pork PorridgeThe texture is to my liking. Smooth and soft. You don't get the rice like feeling, that's how I like my porridge. Unless we're talking about Teo Chew style porridge. Cantonese style porridge should be like this.Fresh Scallop Chee Cheong FunJust by looking at it you know it's delicious.Fresh Prawn Wanten MeeI recommending this for those of you who happen to come here. This is the nearest one can find that taste exactly like wantan mee you find in Hong Kong.Fresh Prawn DumplingThe litmus test of a dim sum restaurant. Simon Seow------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ping Fan is an ordinary 18 year old college student that is born, bred and live in Kuala Lumpur. Currently studying A-level in Taylors. As usual, after class finished around 2 p.m., the and his friends July, Mat, and Sakura go to Asia Cafe and have lunch. While they are happily chatting away, a tall man around the age of 30 that is wearing a black rain coat, sun glasses and a black hat walk to their table. Non of them noticed his presence except for Ping Fan. The strange man lean over next to Ping Fan and whispered,"It is time to awaken your power". Ping Fan just felt a sting at the back of his neck and he blacked out. After he came to his concious, he found himself lying on a bed in a hospital. He later only found out he was taken to SJMC by July, Mat and Sakura after the blacked out. On the second day staying in the hospital, extraordinary things start to happen around him that he can't explain. Nic, what have you plan for her? This is the first time I eat at the Apartment, the Curve. Yet another gathering of foodies, this time is because of U-Jun. Meeting her, Kenny Mah, and Precious Pea for the first time. The food here was said to be inspired by Jamie Oliver's recipe. Lights from Ikea?Someone please pass me the toilet paper. Thanks.Just bought some books from Borders. Guess which I'm reading now? A pint of the good stuff. FA is right, it's a bit diluted.Moving on to the food. There were six of us, Kenny Mah, U-Jun, Precious Pea, Nipple Joe, Jason and me. U-jun suggested that each of us order one appetizer to be shared so that we can have variety of taste. So we ordered; The Duck Mango SaladSimple yet nice.A tapas, Vin's Portobella.Always like the fungi.Another from the tapas menu, the Baked Aubergine.I asked the other foodies, what is an Aubergine. Brinjal or terung was the answer.Beef Carpa.I like the pinkish colour.Squid Lychee salad.A dash of Thai influence there?Joe's suggested Liver Pate.I concurred. We can never have enough of the tapas and salad. Off the mains, which is a bit of a disappointment for us.Chicken walnut. You'll have to ask Precious Pea for the comment.Roast Duck, which Nipple Joe have some say to it.Jason's Piquant Chicken.U-jun digs the Jumbo Prawn with Pineapple. This is the proof or what's left of it.My Lamb Shank with the right tenderness but with the sauce a tad too sweet.Kenny's Lamb Curry and his elaborations. Photo stolen from Joe because I didn't manage take this. The Chartered Accountant was nice enough to calculate the damage of each of us.We were later joined by Teckie and Sidney after we whacked our food. So, we changed our venue to Teh Tarik Place. WMW only managed to join us in Teh Tarik Place after U-Jun left.My teh tarik from Teh Tarik Place.WMW swear not to order Roti BOM again because it was burnt and sweet. The burnt part I understand but the sweet part is debatable because WMW claimed that this is the first time she eaten a Roti BOM that is sweet. All the Roti BOM I ever eaten are sweet. Wah so many peeps birthday in August.Remember this post about Dreamz in Genting, it's a contest by AMBP. Yes I won the contest and got the tickets redemption letter 2 months ago. Since the offer will end on 31st of August, so here I am now in Genting watching the magical show Dreamz.Wonder what to do after the show. $_$ A Typical Malaysian Day I was born, bred and live in Kuala Lumpur. The only 'kampung' (hometown) I know is PJ Old Town where my mum is from. As a typical Malaysian adult, I woke up in the morning getting ready for work. Once in my car I will switch on the radio and listen to my favourite show from 988, "Hello, Good Morning". You get to know the latest headlines from the newspaper just by listening to this show. You will hear people complaining about a new policy that is being debated in the parliament or whether extending the toll collection is better than raising the toll fees by 10% in 2009.DJ Jeff from 988, the co-host of "Hello, Good Morning"Once I reached my office, which is a 20 minutes drive from home (jams included). I'll stop by stall just outside the office building by the corner and a buy a packet of Nasi Lemak Paru from a pak cik and his son.Economical yet satisfyingAfter logging in to my desktop and my workplace, I'll take the packet of Nasi Lemak Paru and go down the cafeteria to eat it with a glass of teh tarik ordered from the Mamak. It just goes so well with the nasi lemak.Come lunch me and my colleague will that the shuttle bus provided by the company to Pusat Bandar Damansara building to have 'chap fun' (economical rice). Have our choice of vegetables and meat. Which will cost about RM 5.00. Yes, pricing is about there in the City. After work, I'll go home and catch up with my favourite show from 8TV. Ho Chak! Which show the audience food around Malaysia. By watching this show, I will know where to find some good local delicacy if I plan to travel to Shah Alam, Ipoh, Malacca, Johor Bharu, George Town, Seremban, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Kuala Kangsar, Alor Setar, Kuching or even Kota Kinabalu. Each of this places have their own uniqueness. A good way to take the buzz off the hectic city life.My favourite host from Ho Chak! Ah Yoon (吳家潤)Come late night, I might go to the mamak stall and have some roti canai and teh halia and watch EPL with friends. Once in a blue moon, me and my colleague will indulge in some sin but good food such as Bah Kut Teh. Not advisable to eat too often for those with high blood pressure or heart problem =pMalaysian prefer open air diningSo, from what I just written you'll know that what I like about Malaysia is firstly the food and then the friendly people like the pak cik that sells nasi lemak by the road side or the mamak that make a good glass of teh halia. Freedom to speak in my mother tongue (Cantonese), listen to a radio station that I prefer and watching TV programmes that I like.About 4 more weeks from now will be our country, Malaysia's 51st Independence Day. To celebrate this, The Malaysia Page has publish 50+1 Malaysia book, which showcases photographs of the uniqueness of Malaysian and Malaysia. This book is now on sales here, and will be available in major bookstore later. There is a Special Offer now if purchased online. How they have grown, especially Noah. Their Kai Mah (Godmother) uploaded their recent photos in Facebook. So, I thought I'll do a bit of update in my blog to about them. This one look a lot like me when I was his age. 28 years ago? Also means that I'm getting older each day. Sigh. -_- My Gift to FA & Boss Stewie Coming 2nd August is one of my favourite blogger's 27th 28th birthday and coincidentally Nuffnang is currently running Nuffnang Gift Ideas contest. So, this is a chance to give her a birthday gift and not spend a dime if I win the contest lol.Happy Birthday to FASo, I'll give a digital camera to Fire Angel. Why would I give this to her? Well for one, I see that she might or might not have a digital camera because most of the pics of her in Face Book or her blog is from her friend's camera. Beside of using the camera to camwhore, FA could probably use it to take picture of car of the idiot driver that you see popping up occasionally on her blog, like this car, this car, this car, and this car. From RealMart I found this; Canon Digital Ixus 860 IS - Black.Sorry FA because RealMart doesn't sell beer buffet so this is the next best thing I could think of.Moving on, I will also want go give a gift for our very hardworking Boss Stewie for finding us Nuffnanger all the advertiser and give us a bit of side income.Hardworking Tim with his smelly. As we all know that Banana Wenqi is now studying in Singapore. Tim will be busier than ever because Wenqi was kind of like his Personal Assistant that reminding him his schedule, confirming his appointment, taking notes on meeting and most important of all preparing cheques to be sent out to Nuffnanger whom had cash out.Banana Wenqi in Made of Honour dinner in JW Marriot. Now that Wenqi is no longer working in Nuffnang, hence Nuffnang is hiring more people to do her job. Timothy will have to also prepare the cheques to be sent out to the Nuffnanger. So, to help easing his job, I will give Timothy a Vision Electronic Cheque Writer 600C. Now you can give out all the Moolah without problem, muahahaha. By the way, I still haven't receive my Moolah that I cash out a month ago. -_-The Moolah Writer Ka Ka Bah Kut Teh, Kepong Baru Warning: Tidak Ditanggung HalalMy parents used to bring me and my sister to Ka Ka Bah Kut Teh for dinner or supper when we were staying in Kepong Baru when I was not more than 12 year old. But after we shifted out from Kepong Baru, we seldom patron Ka Ka Bah Kut Teh anymore. It's been a few years then that I haven't eaten there when I started working.Last month at about 1 am, working on the graveyard shift. My colleagues and I decided to drive to Kepong Baru and eat Ka Ka Bah Kut Teh for lunch (supper). It has now got it's own shop, the last I dine at Ka Ka, they're still operating in a zinc roof settings. You can choose to sit inside the shop or.....dine al-fresco lol.The usual 'suspects' of a BKT setupLoh 'G' Yuk (pork stew in soya sauce?)Mixed pork cuts and parts bah kut tehKa Ka bah kut teh is what I think is more to KL style, which has a clearer soup base than the Klang version. Lettuce instead of fu chuk is used as the condiment. For those of you that like Klang style BKT will find this soup based a bit bland. I ordered a pot of pork kidneyWhen I came to Ka Ka, I always order their pork kidney. The soup will taste a bit different from the normal meat BKT soup. This one will be filled with the taste of ginger which is to offset the unwanted smell of the kidney. My colleagues only tried a bit of this wonderful stuff, hence I finished almost 90% of it. Pork kidney is an aquired taste from what I see here. The defacto extra order of yau char kwaiOverall Rating: 3.5/5That night I just bought my Cannon A470 PowerShot camera not too long ago, so I did a bit of testing shot on my colleagues.Address:Ka Ka Bah Kut TehKepong BaruIt's opposite Carrefour, Kepong Baru along Jalan Kepong.Google MapOther Ppl's View:KYVKeong Bread & Olives @ Lookout Point I've been reading a few post about a place with fantastic view of KL night where you can have your meal. This is non other than Lookout Point. So, a group of us foodies decided to go there to have our meal and view.We first group up near Leisure Mall, Taman Segar. There were 6 of us. 3 in each car. Me and KampungBoy did the driving. I am the leading car as Jason is the one that know how to go there with the help of an instruction printed from a blog. Oh, by the way Jason is from Ipoh, and me a KLian is so malu of not knowing the way lol. Following the intruction, we manage to make our way to Lookout Point from Taman Segar in about half an hour. It's actually not that far. Thanks to Jason that chose a shorter route that skipped the congestion in Pandan Perdana. We've reached. My advise is to go there before 8pm during weekend, if not you won't be able to find a place and have to park below.Bread & Olives is a restaurant serving Western & Middle Eastern fare. We chose a table near the edge so that we can have a view. The lighting on our table is not bright enough to take good pics, so when each dish arrived, we'll move it to another table with bright ligthing to take the pic. It's so funny come to think of it. The waiter even advise us to eat while the food is hot. Nah, we're floggers, so some sacrifices is needed. My half roast chicken. It's way better than Kenny Rogers. The meat is juicy and flavourful. The sauce is goes superbly well with the chicken. It comes with briyani rice which is also very tasty. Best ever roast chicken I had.Rating: 4/5We all shared a pizza, which was cut into 6 slices. So, each of us get to eat a slice. I think is this Bur Al Arab pizza with minced lamb. Why not order your chap fun online from EzyMeal.I was trying out the Google Translation tool on my page. When I came to this post of about Nipple Joe. The har gau here is not too bad, of course it can't be compare to the one I ate in Hong Kong.Overall the dim sum here is good and fresh. Won't mind returning here for dim sum since it's so near my place. Blog Recommendation: Lots of Cravings Since I am not very consistent in posting Blog of the Week or Blog of the Month. So, I think I will change it to Blog Recommendation instead so that I can post this when I feel like it. As Nipple Joe has been bugging me for this post. So, this time my blog recommendation is none other than fellow flogger from Lots of Cravings.Nipple JoeI asked Joe how does the nick name Nipple Joe come by. He told me that back in some of the early foodies gathering he was wearing some tight see-through shirt that accidentally show his nipples. That's how the nick name was created. "That's not how he got his nick name", WMW told me. But she didn't elaborate further on the story.Ok. Enough of nipples. Let's start on the blog, Lots of Cravings. First of all, I don't remember how I came to this food blog. It might be from the blog roll in either Masak-masak or Living In Food Heaven. What I like about Joe's food blog is that you can always find high quality food pics which will also a down side if you don't have a high speed connection or your connection sucks. His photos takes up so much broadband that he have to upgrade his Photobucket to professional from free version. His style of writing is very much different from me. For me, I'm the straight forward no-nonsense type of writing (also no creativity =P) but Joe will always start a food post like a telling a story and sometime the story might not even be related to the food, which you will find people that don't really read the post leaving funny comments. To tell the truth, I sometimes just see the photos and skip the words when it's too wordy. It's good that the pics are good because he's a good photographer. Then, almost every Monday blues, you'll see him posting pics of his little cousins until he now have a category on it. Sometimes it will be ranting post. So actually, Lots of Cravings is not all about food there are also some interesting read like Nuffnang v.s. Adverlets, daily life rant, and a bit about the education in Malaysia. So, if you're not hungry and will like to see some nice food pics and not sleepy and want to read a good story on food outings then you will surely find it in Lots of Cravings. To end this write-up, I'll show you guys Nipple Joe's long thing.||||||What were you guys thinking?
