When it was announced that Rockband would be released on 25 September, I wasn't too interested. I was a little wary with the reports on the internet about Rockband's equipment so I decided then to hold until Guitar Hero World Tour and its equipment arrives this month. So I bought Rockband software and used my Guitar Hero's guitars to play them. It was working fine and while we felt we were missing out on the drums, we didn't care much. Then three things happened:   1) My black Guitar Hero guitar had an unresponsive yellow fret button.   2) World Tour is delayed to November.   3) I went to my friend's place to check out her playing Rockband.   These totally changed my plans. On Saturday, my brother followed me to the neighbourhood game shop (FunzCentre) and we got our Rockband package home. It was not heavy, just bulky to carry around. We unwrapped the package once we got home and like anyone who's with a new toy, we were as excited like little boys.   Everything was working fine except for the USB mike. I have two Xbox360 consoles at home and it didnt work on both, and on all the available ports. Luckily we can use the Xbox360 headset as an alternative.       Win a KAWASAKI NINJA when you PreOrder Midnight Club Los Angeles game! I don't have a riding licence and the only two-wheel transport I can handle is a bicycle.   When it is announced that I stand a chance to win a KAWASAKI NINJA for pre-ordering the upcoming Rockstar game Midnight Club Los Angeles game, I weep. I regret not pursuing a riding licence before. But hey, I'm gonna go for it.   If I win, I have a choice to claim the bike or convert the prize to cash at 50% of its cash value. I checked with my friend who's into bikes and he said the price of a KAWASAKI NINJA in Singapore is around S$9,000.00!   That's a load of money to be won!   I'd buy ten copies of the game if I can increase my chances!   Photo Album: Midnight Club Los Angeles PreOrder Campaign Midnight Club Los Angeles PreOrder Campaign 041020082403041020082404041020082405041020082408041020082410041020082410-highlight041020082404-preorderzoom X08 Singapore (24-26 Oct 2008) Marina Square   Newsflash:   Fan Nite only for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is confirmed and there is a goodie bag if you sign up on the website, URL to be announced soon.   All information will be consolidated here.     Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! After a month observing the fasting tradition, it's now time to celebrate again.   We (three families) celebrated the first day of Hari Raya visiting the close relatives. Apart from the formalities, I think I've consumed more than 10kg of festive goodies - cookies, cakes, sambal goreng, lontong, serondeng, ayam korma, nasi briyani and lots of different flavours of carbonated drinks! Burp!   We completed the rounds at 1am! And this is using a chartered bus. Imagine travelling around in public transport. Much time will be wasted waiting for the bus or cab to come.   I woke up at 10am today, helped around with the household chores and left for work. There's no time for my Xbox today. I'll give it some love tonight.   Saints Row2 PreOrder Card and Redemption Form If you love Grand Theft Auto-styled games, you should love Saints Row2 even more.   The Preorder has started and lasts until 3 October. I managed to get my hands on the PreOrder Card (omg it's tiny - credit card sized) and the redemption form. You can submit the redemption form through the shop you bought from (if they offer to do so) or mail it yourself.   You can then check Replay Interactive's Saints Row2 website to see whether you made it to the list of 200 people who gets the special item (sling bag and t-shirt).   Act on it fast, junior!   Infinite Undiscovery and the free Sound Collections CD... Infinite Undiscovery was released on 25 September and I managed to get my hands on a copy and its free Sound Collections CD.   The game comes with a thick manual (well most games do nowsadays) and two discs. The last JRPG to have two discs was Blue Dragon. I have not started playing the game but from what I've seen from the my colleague who's hogging the office copy, it has an interesting gameplay introduction.   Anyway, let's examine the Sound Collections CD. It consists of 1 disc and the cover indicates that it contains 10 tracks - 6 from Infinit (wrong spelling on the cover) Undiscovery, 2 from The Last Remnant and another 2 from Star Ocean - The Last Hope. The Last Remnant will be released later this year and Star Ocean will make its release early next year.   If you love collecting soundtracks like me (I'm currently using Tales of Vesperia opening theme as my phone's ringtone), this is a must have item. Also, inside the cover of the Sound Collections CD, you will find a code to unlock items in Infinite Undiscovery.   With the game retailing at S$60.90 (cheaper than the usual S$69.90 or beyond), this freebie is a bargain that you should not miss.   I'm not sure whether the CD has sold out but you should enquire from stores about it if you're getting the game.     Price Revision for EA's Rockband   Coinciding with the release of Xbox360 version of Rockband today, an announcement for a price revision was released. The new prices are:   Playstation 3 Instrument Pack - S.R.P. S$229 Standalone Drums - S.R.P. S$149 Standalone Guitar - S.R.P. S$99 PS3 Software - S.R.P. S$74.90 Xbox 360 Instrument Pack - S.R.P. Before today, Xbox gamers who wants to rock out on RockBand had to turn to PS3 version to satisfy their needs.   But now it's different with the release of Rockband for Xbox360. Although it's a little late, at least it's in time for the next holiday season (play RockBand with your guests on Hari Raya and Deepavali?) and about a month ahead (if you really can't wait) from the release of Guitar Hero World Tour.   There are 3 components out there: - Instrument Edition (full suite of instruments but without the game) - Drum Set Only - Wireless Guitar Only - Game Only   Approach your favourite gameshop for details.     Community thread   Xbox Experience Zone @ Challenger Funan The first Xbox Experience Zone is unearthed at Challenger Funan. Weird achievements in Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway   Most of us are achievement whores and we're proud of it. We'll go to various extents to score difficult achievments, brag about it and then share how to attain it.   But what happens when the achievement conditions are weird?   Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway has 7 Zero-score achievements, 3 achievements that require you to log in and play continuously everyday and (...drum roll) 1 achievement that requires you to play the game online on 17 September.   In my region, the game was only released yesterday, 23 Sep.   It's not just weird, it's downright ridiculous.   Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway - Multiplayer Options At the release of the game, there has not been any review published by the usual gaming websites, and I've only been playing the first 2 chapters so far. But for the benefit of those interested, here's snapshots of the multiplayer options.   According to the manual, the objective of the game is to win rounds by successfully attacking or defending the territory. The attackers win by either raising their nation's flag over one of two capture points or eliminating the defenders before the round expires. The defenders win if they prevent the attacking squad from completing either objective.   Each squad consist of three 3-man Fire Teams (Alpha, Bravo and Charlie) and one Squad Leader, totaling up to 10 players on each squad.   Although there's only one game mode (for now?), there's quite a selection of maps to play on. Developer Diary: Xbox Avatars Here's a fresh and deeper look into the Xbox Avatars, as reported by Major Nelson.     What does the community think about it?   Check out here Fate of Dead Space in Singapore?   The forum community had reported that Dead Space has been banned in Germany, China and Japan and that's quite alarming.   We know that the game involves dismemberment of limbs and some gruesome scenes but could there be something in the game that has not been disclosed. Dead Space was one of the games shown at GCA 2008 and we hope it will make its way to our shelves here.   Check out this forum discussion for insight.   edit: It seems that our local Censorship authority has approved the release of Dead Space. Check out this thread.     Saints Row2 PreOrder Replay Interactive was one of the booths at Games Convention Asia 2008 and they were displaying Saints Row2, scheduled to be release on 14 October. A PreOrder campaign was launched yesterday for the game, available in Normal and Limited Edition. There's also a chance to win a cruise. If you love playing Grand Theft AutoIV, you should love this game as well.   Replay says that if you miss the preorder at GCA, you can approach Comics Connection and Mega Multimedia. More stores will be announced in this forum update.   I'm also excited that they are responsible for the release of Dynasty Warriors6 (finally in English) including Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon and Smackdown vs Raw 2009 this year! Xbox 360 Relaunch on 25 Sep?   This Relaunch Rumour is spelt with a capital R, because nothing is concrete yet.   According to Kotaku.com, there is a whole slew of announcements to be revealed to keep Xbox gamers excited about the lineup to come.   But this is all a rumour and though it may look like it's in the works, we'd be watching out for it.   Thanks to dxtehsecks for giving the heads up.   Article on Xbox360 Defects   The Xbox360 may boast about having the largest collection of games todate but it is not a perfect console.   Have a look at this article about an inside history of Microsoft’s video game console woes.   Thanks to bedlamite for raising this topic on the community forum.   Cheaper DLC until October!   You know you wanted them, but their price was a turnoff.
