Now in Q3, I on the other hand got this - let me introduce you to my new Samsung Digital Camera.  Tah dah!!! My brand new Samsung NV24HD… And obviously the HD means High Definition… Yeah!!! This is the first ever Genital digital camera with HD from Samsung.. Samsung just launched of late its 2nd HD enhanced digital camera, NV100HD. I just spent freaking 600 sing dollars today within 2 hrs and I am feeling hell of a heart ache now.. I guess I got to work for another few more months instead of tendering my resignation by Sept end… Sigh! In fact I already have a digital camera, a Nikon 3100 which I bought back in 2003. Nikon is actually a good camera but the only thing I hate most about it is the double A batteries which do not last long.. I remember once, back in 2003 when I was in Las Vegas, I had to carry like 4 rechargeable, not inclusive of the 2 which was in the camera and all in all when the nite ended I had to buy additional 8 double A batts which I obviously used them all.. Darn!! Stupid Nikon!!  Ok, so what so great about Samsung NV 24HD? Well, it is SAMSUNG obviously, spelt S.A.M.S.U.N.G ok??  My all time favorite brand… Well, soon it will be LG… (hey u guys reading my blog, take note of LG. LG will be the next Samsung.. The on sale price was SGD599 and as in every COMEX, the price gets lower or cheaper as the days go by. It is the 3rd day of the expo today so the price was slashed to SGD499.. Yeah, you heard it right. I got it for SGD499 and the freebies that came along with it is totally unbelievable.. I got a 2nd free lithium batt, a screen protector, a solution cleaning kit, a mini tripod (for what fuck for I don’t know since I aint no midget or National Geography photographer), an 8 GB memory card and a card reader… oh, and a Samsung Digital Photo Frame!!!   Good deal eh?? Of course.. Juanito always gets the best-est deal out of everything and I don’t regret after buying it.. Stupid govt!! With my foul mood for the past few days (which I will talk about it in a later posting), I came across an article this morning.. I aint gonna story tell like Pak Pandir in my post today.. But, I am gonna comment about this article with respect to what the country is doing by limiting the citizens to their rights to read, to express in the Internet world.. After reading the article, it got me more foul... When I say communications, it covered from cellphone coverage, internet, pagers, telephone and whatever not... So what the Malaysian govt is doing now to Malaysia Today (as reported in The Star), what is the difference between this fucked-up country compared to Myanmar?? THERE IS NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE!!! CIBAI Malaysia is equally as rotten and uncivilized... This is the 21st century and this pig government wants to choose to live in a world of their own, is it??? Who now doesnt want improvement and progress?? Dont talk thru ur fucking arses la UMNO.. Up Urs... We the citizens want improvement and progress irrespective if it opposition ruled or BN ruled.. It is you guys who think the citizens are stupid, let me remind you guys one thing... Archive dated 7th July 2008 Damn, there are really stupid people on earth! I was so engrossed in writing my other article that now I have to stop writing it only to write this one. I hate it! I fucking hate it!!!! I hate it when I am all so zest up, happily writing when something more intense stops me out right! And no thanks to these stupid mutha farkers out there! In fact, many might not know that I am based in a MNC now in Kiasuland after leaving another MNC (which I had served altogether 8+ yrs) back in Bodohland. And I am beginning to regret every moment of it, well not every moment of it... There were a few good moments especially that one moment when the girl came 7 times on me...(me wife apparently got agitated of it and sms me at bloody 2am in the morning asking me who the heck that girl was) or the other moment when I boarded the wrong bus thinking that it was 163 only to realize later on that it was 132. Damn! (Sorry I have to digress a little bit) Speaking of that, how did I stupidly board 132 and thought that it was 163? Let me tell you what happened actually. In fact, when I post mortem my stupidity, it wasnt really my fault of being stupid BUT it was because of the DAMN FUCKING TREE! I got out from my house 1 morning (as I always have to board the bus to work at the expense of living in Kiasuland) and as I walked to the bus stop, I saw this bus coming. Let me say this, that all of this took place simultaneously ok? As I walked quicker to the bust, I mean bus stop and as the bus was still cumming coming towards me, flashes of the bus number were visible from a far (as I now ran to the bus stop whilst constantly looking back to confirm the bus number), notably number 1 and later on, number 3 only for the number 2 to be blocked by the tree! Damn it! So you see, when my eyes sent the signal to my brain upon seeing 1 and 3 and since I saw no subsequent number after the 3 (apparently the bloody tree block the no 2), my superb mental math-cum-logical mind formulated that it was 163. See how the smart I am! The rest was history. Ok.. Enough of digressing of the day... Let's get back to the topic at hand. This actually have happened once a couple of months back and now it is happening again. And what really pissed me off was the argument I had with my colleague that lasted for half the day... We argued about it from 10am until lunch, and after lunch we continued arguing about it again until sometime 3pm.. WTBF?? (err.. it means what the bloody fuck and not world trade badminton federation and what not!) I guess people in my present company are either fuck heads or nut case or purely plain stupid! I would opt for all 3 though. What actually took place a couple of months ago was this. My colleague, Sergeant Ken was working with this corporate guy (here in after he is called Dickhead) on establishing new goals and indicators for Y08. So there were 2 indicators that were very "annoying" to Dickhead because the results of that 2 indicators had a prefix of plus (+) and minus (-) sign. Let me give you an example: 1. Improvement of safety incident YoY = -10%2. Reduction of safety incident YoY = +15% The first time I saw this when I stepped foot on this company, I asked myself, "WTF?!?!" Today I am still asking WTF with a B in between the T and F making it WTBF?!?! So, Sergeant Ken was debating with Dickhead on the plus and minus sign. Seriously, who the hell that stupid came out with the idea of using a plus and minus sign to denote improvement or deterioration in any possible human ways? You know what Sergeant said when I "quizzed" him? Sergeant said if the number had a minus sign it could mean either ways, similarly the plus sign too and it depends if we are trying to improve the situation or reduce the effect.. Then I exclaimed (seriously exclaimed), what was the bloody use of the word improvement and reduction means?! less the bloody though.. According to Sergeant's boss, who happens to be my boss said that negative sign doesnt really mean deterioration and I, 'de' clever one, said, if the word "improvement" is a positive logic itself, therefore as it compliments the minus sign (in the case of example No.1 i.e -10%) thus the answer will still be a negative logic. Yeah! Something in digital logic when two negatives make a positive, u get my drift? So I continued, therefore the improvement did not realize by 10%, in fact every normal human being would see it as deterioration. To my horror, he said no. In my heart, I was exclaiming WTF NO?!! So, Sergeant Ken explained that due to the fact that the improvement was relative to safety incident, therefore a negative number would mean an improvement of safety incidents did actually take place by 10%. WTF?? Apparently, for example no.2, these smart arses claimed that the +15% means that the number of safety incidents had increased by 15%, by virtue of the word "reduction". WTF??? So now they are telling me that to reduce the number of safety incident, the result had to be -15% instead of +15%. Hello?!?!?! Are you guys stupid or wat? Then I continued on just to confirm my fear of them being stupid and asked them what if the statement was "Reduction of electrical usage = 10%", would that mean it actually increased by 10% or did it not? And to seriously affirm my laying fears, they claimed it worsen by 10%! Holy fuck?!?! I must have graduated from a fuck up university (Universiti Terbodoh Malaysia) and I have been working 8+ years with the most stupid MNC all this while... Damn! I didnt know they were so smart! WTBF?!?! Anyways, I totally gave up and while Dickhead and Sergeant was arguing abt this, Dickhead blurted out a new found word that I have truly never heard of, and that was - Deprove, an antonym of Improve! Huh !?!? And today after what had transpired really and truly have made me surrender in 1 way or the other. Sergeant asked me what is the meaning of Near Miss. And being the smart one always, I said Near Miss is go-fuck-urself something that took place which might have caused an unfortunate incident but the impact hence after was avoidable. So he asked me if First Aid cases were classified as Near Miss. WTF?? How can a bloody FA case be classified as Near Miss when an FA case is already after-the-fact? And secondly FA cases are injury inflicted cases (whether it was accidental or not). Even OSHA elaborated in its definition of Near Miss as an event that takes place without any injury or illness caused but with a potential hazard remains at sight. See what Wikipedia has to say for Near Miss...."...A near miss is an unplanned event that did not result in injury, illness, or damage - but had the potential to do so. Only a fortunate break in the chain of events prevented an injury, fatality or damage..." Damn... I can be a freaking Wikipedia myself - Juanipedia! And the reason we were arguing about Near Miss because some bloody idiot (not Sergeant) was so convincing enough (who thinks he has the bestest Engrish in the whole wide damn world) to say that FA cases are Near Misses because they are Near Misses to Recordable. Anyways, I hate it when it rains here in Kiasuland aka Singapore... Fyi, I take the bus to and fro work. I take the bus to anywhere I want to go since here I dont have a car of my own.. I really do miss driving. I love driving actually. I dont mind driving for hours. I remember back in 2003 when I was in Chandler, I would drive all the way from Chandler to LV (Las Vegas and not that stupid brand name, Louis Vuitton) or from Chandler all the way to Utah to visit Glen Canyon. The journey would take up to 6 hrs at the speed of 80-90 mph.. Take note it is mph and not kmh.. (1 Mile = 1.6 km). I have been driving since 18 yrs of age and I don’t just get tired of it easily.. I love fast cars and I drive them fast too… On the roads of Penang, I can hit up to speeds of 10o kmh.. Sometimes 110kmh even.. But then, down here on the other hand, rain or shine I have to take either a bus or a train (mrt). During the weekends, when I go out to scavage for food, I also have to take the bus. Problem is when it rains, whether I like it or not I still have to go to work or look for food so that I dont starve to death. Just like last nite, or in fact the recent weekend when it rained the whole day on both the Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was still ok because the rain stopped for a little while and that gave me sometime to go out and have my dinner with Ah Kong (and we managed to watch Death Race in the meantime). But last nite was terrible. I was starving and my normal dinner time is around 6.45pm or 7pm. But the rain just didnt want to stop and at 7.45pm, I was so hungry that I couldnt care less anymore. I just took my umbrella and headed out to wait for the bus.. I nearly fainted due to hunger.. By the time I got back from my dinner around 8.30pm, the rain stopped. Sigh!! You see what happens here is, I always carry an umbrella with me in my bag (to work) or when I go out on weekends. The rain here aint a joke btw. It will sure get you wet upto your upper part of the lower body even if you have an umbrella on top of your head.. I remember there was 1 morning when I was about to go to work, it rained so heavily that my slacks were all wet upto my thighs. I just walked out out of my house with an umbrella over my head, and before I could even say Jack Robinson, my shoes, socks and pants were all fucking wet... The only place I didnt get wet was my balls (and obviously my upper body la)... By the time I got to work, I had to remove my pants shoes and socks so that it would not stench and yet dry quickly.. I guess the next time it rains, I need to tune my ipod to Rihanna's Umbrella song and sing along with it... You know, when you see a snake, a wild animal, instinctively there is fear and that is normal, healthy natural physical fear. It is not fear rather. It is instinctively - the gist, the desire to protect oneself - that is normal. But the psychological protection of oneself - that is, the desire to be always certain - breeds fear. A mind that is seeking always to be certain is a dead mind (reminds me of someone), because there is no certainty in life, there is no permanency.... Since death was mentioned here as a fact rather than the idea, I will use it as an example to elaborate the last few lines of the former paragraph. "A person might have seen death thru various experiences - through the death of the loved ones, through the death on television, through the death in the newspaper and so on. So basically your mind pre conditions death as an abstract, a picture. You will find that death is horrifying and saddening. These all the images your mind has developed over the years of your growing up, your experience, your past. Here your mind is overcoming the body - the heart and making it as though as 'I' but it is not the real 'I' since the mind is trying to separate u from the 'I'.  When you stand at a swimming pool, you will be cautious because you know for a fact that you dont know how to swim and if you were to fall into the pool, you will drown if no one saves you. Not being able to swim is a 'fact' here and not an idea because the fact that you have accepted is that you really cant swim, and unless you change that fact to learning how to swim then not being able to swim will no longer remain that fact neither an idea..... ..... When you are being thrown into the pool with the fact that you cant swim, that similar division where your mind is trying to escape, and overcoming the body - the heart is trying to tell you (i.e this case 'I') that you have to struggle for your life or else face death. That similar division is breeding fear in you, fear of dying! If you come to contact with that fear, meaning that you (the 'I' as a whole rather than 2 separations of mind and the body) can accept death as a fact rather than an idea, you will not struggle in ur attempt to save your bloody ass but instead accept that you can only die. The word desire was also mentioned here. The fight for survival with the fear of death is actually your desire to live. Every desire has a fear.. The topic of desire will be spoken of in a later time..." So, what is important is not "how to be free of fear?" If you seek a way, a method, a system to be rid of fear, you will be everlastingly caught in fear. But if you understand fear - which can only take place when you come directly in contact with it, as you are in contact with hunger, as you are directly in contact when you are threatened with losing your job - then you do something; only then you will find that all fear ceases - we mean all fear, not fear of this kind or of that kind. Again, pretty tough huh? Let me explain.  "Chinese for one like to gamble, in whatever way, they will love gambling or else we wont be called Chinese. They will gamble by buying lottery, buying stocks, buying commodities or just plain gambling like those you see in the gambling den. They gamble for 1 simple reason - to win! Who would want to gamble if losses were on stake rather than winnings? So, you basically have a desire to win by gambling. And in gambling as we all know, there are two sides of it, either win or lose. Again, no one wants to lose. And if no one loses, who will win? Anyways, the desire to win by gambling breeds a fear in losing, and I state for a fact that these people all know what the stakes are. It is either you win or you lose. The fear of losing still drives these people to gamble because of that desire of wanting to win - greed! So you see here, the urge in you wants to gamble badly but the mind is trying to escape the fear of losing. There is a separation, a division. How do you gamble by not having the fear of losing and also not having the greed as in wanting to win at the same time? It is purely contradicting, right? So, by not letting your mind creating a division you will understand the fear and therefore you will not have the fear of losing instead you will take it as it is. Whether you win or lose makes no difference to you rather it is just more of a past time. No heartburn in this case. Then you will ask, how do I not let my mind create that division? By doing something that you can understand therefore you will cease fear - in this case, just dont gamble. If you dont gamble, there is no greed and there is a cease in fear. As long as you intend on gambling, there will always be fear So, you have understood that by distancing yourself from gambling, there wont be fear arising from losing. In fact, I mentioned that you can prevent your mind from creating a separation when you gamble. What I mentioned was a higher sense of you yourself controlling your mind. Your mind has to die and become one as your body rather than 2 separated entities. The 'I' needs to be 1 and wholely understood. This will then mean that you can choose to gamble as it is but win or lose is seriously not an agenda to you. You dont have a desire in winning - greed and yet you are not afraid of losing. What come may is immaterial in this case"  Fear is Nonacceptance of What IsFear is basically perceiving the what is as in thinking that you know something and it will create fear.... Fear finds various escapes. The common variety is identification, is it not? Identification with country, with society, with an idea. Haven't you noticed how you respond when you see a procession, a military procession or a religious procession, or when the country is in danger of being invaded? You then identify yourself with the country, with a being, with an ideology. There are other times when you identify yourself with your child, with your wife, with a particular form of action, or inaction. Identification is a process of self-forgetfulness. So long as I am conscious of the 'me' I know there is pain, there is struggle, there is constant fear. But if I can identify myself with something greater, with something worthwhile, with beauty, with life, with truth, with belief, with knowledge, at least temporarily, there is an escape from the 'me', is there not? If I talk about 'my country' I forget myself temporarily, do I not? If I can say something about God, I forget myself. If I can identify myself with my family, with a group, with a particular party, with a certain ideology, then there is a temporary escape. Do we now know what fear is? Is it not the non acceptance of what is? We must understand the word acceptance. I am not using that word as meaning the effort made to accept. There is no question of accepting when I perceive what is. When I do not see clearly what is, then I bring in the process of acceptance. Therefore, fear is the non acceptance of what is! If you ask the question, 'what is this and that', it simply means you are not sure, have not understood and unable to see clearly the 'what is' in context. You have that curiosity to know what is and your dont have fear in that curiosity. Example, a 3-year old child sees a fascinating toy (but it is a nail clipper in this case) and asks, 'what is this' and you will answer 'nail clipper'. This 3-year old child doesnt know what a nail clipper is or how it looks like and never came across one before yet enough to fascinate her. She is interested in knowing the what is, she doesnt have fear to know what is that toy. She is unaware that the toy is actually not a toy but she is developing a process of how to accept it when she asked what is. Assuming the toy bites her, then she knows that this toy, simply called a 'nail clipper' is no longer a toy. She will then have the fear of playing with that toy again because she cant accept that toy as what it is. But... but if the child can accept the toy as no longer a toy and rather a nail clipper then she will not have that fear anymore, will she?" .....Juanito Knowing Fear Part 1 Archive dated April 16th This article on Fear was put on hold for quite some time now. Freedom from FearIs it possible for the mind to empty itself totally of fear? Fear of any kind breeds illusion; it makes the mind dull, shallow. Where there is fear, there is obviously no freedom, and without freedom there is no love at all. And most of us have some form of fear; fear of darkness, fear of public opinion, fear of snakes, fear of physical pain, fear of old age, fear of death. We have literally dozens of fear. And is it possible to be completly free of fear? We can see what fear does to each one of us. It makes one tell lies; it corrupts one in various ways; it makes the mind empty, shallow. There are dark corners in the mind which can never be investigated and exposed as long as one is afraid. Physical self protection, the instinctive urge to keep away from the venomous snake, to draw back from the precipice, to avoid falling under a tramcar and so on, is sane, normal, healthy. But the question itself is the psychological self protectiveness which makes one afraid of disease, of death, of an enemy. When we seek fulfillment in any form, whether through painting, through music, through relationship, or what you will, there is always fear. So, what is important is to be aware of this whole process of oneself, to observe, to learn about it and not ask "how" to get rid of fear. When you merely want to get rid of fear, you will find ways and means of escaping from it, and so there can never be freedom from fear.. Dealing with FearOne is afraid of public opinion, afraid of achieving, not fulfilling, afraid of not having the opportunity, and through it all there is this extraordinary sense of guilt - one has done a thing that one should not have done, the sense of guilt in the very act of doing; one is healthy and others are poor and unhealthy; one has food and others have no food. The more the mind is inquiring, penetrating, asking, the greater the sense of guilt, anxiety.... Fear is the urge that seeks a Master, a guru; fear is this coating of respectability, which everyone loves to, dearly - to be respectable. Do you determine to be courageous to face events in life, or merely rationalize fear away, or find explanations that will give satisfaction to the mind that is caught in fear? How do you deal with it? Turn on the radio, read a book, go to a temple, cling to some form, of dogma, belief? Again the word - how! Fear is the desctructive energy in man. It withers the mind, it distorts thought, it leads to all kinds of extraordinary clever and subtle theories, absurd superstitions, dogmas, and beliefs. If you see that fear is destructive, then how do you proceed to wipe the mind clean? You say that by probing into the cause of fear you would be free of fear. Is that so? Trying to uncover the cause and knowing the cause of fear does not eliminate fear. The Door to UnderstandingYou cannot wipe away fear without understanding, without actually seeing into the nature of time, which means thought, which means word. In short, time = thought = "word".  From that arises the question: Is there a thought without word, is there a thinking without the word which is memory? Without seeing the nature of the mind, the movement of the mind, the process is self knowing, merely saying that I must be free of it, has very little meaning. You have to take fear in the context of the whole of the mind. To see, to go into all this, you need energy. Energy does not come through eating food - that is a part of physical necessity. But to see (to go into all this), in the sense I am using that word, requires an enormous energy and that energy is dissipated when you are batlling with words, when you are resisting, condemning, when you are full of opinions which are preventing you from looking, seeing - your energy is all gone in that. So in the consideration of this perception, this seeing, again, you open the door. Fear Makes Us ObeyWhy do we do all this - obey, follow, copy? Why? Because we are frightened inwardly to be uncertain. We want to be certain - we want to be certain financially, we want to be certain morally - we want to be approved, we want to be in a safe position, we want never to be confronted with trouble or pain, suffering, we want to be enclosed. So, fear, consciously or unconsciously makes us obey the Master, the leader, the priest, the government. Fear also controls us from doing something which may be harmful to others, because we will be punished. So behind all these actions, greeds, pursuits, lurks the desire for certainty, this desire to be assured. So, without resolving fear, without being free from fear, merely to obey or to be obeyed has little significance; what has meaning is to understand this fear from day to day and how fear shows itself in different ways. It is only when there is freedom from fear that there is that inward quality of understanding, that aloneness in which there is no accumulation of knowledge or of experience, and it is that alone which gives extraordinary clarity in the pursuit of the real. Face-to-Face with the FactAre we afraid of a fact or of an idea about the fact? Are we afraid of the thing as it is or are we afraid of what we think it is? Take death for instance. Are we afraid of the fact of death or of the idea of death? The fact is one thing and the idea about the fact is another. Am I afraid of the word 'death' or of the fact itself? Because I am afraid of the word, of the idea, I never understand the fact, I never look at the fact, I am never in direct relation with the fact. It is only when I am in complete communion with the fact that there is no fear. If I am not in communion with the fact, then there is fear and there is no communion with the fact so long as I have an idea, an opinion, a theory about the fact; so I have to be very clear whether I am afraid of the word, the idea, or the fact itself. If I am face-to-face with the fact, there is nothing to understand about it: the fact is there and I can deal with it. If I am afraid of the word then I must understand the word, go into the whole process of what the word, the term implies. It is my opinion, my idea, my experience, my knowledge about the fact that creates fear. So long as there is verbalization of the fact, giving the fact a name and therefore identifying or condemning it, so long as though is judging the fact as an observer, there must be fear. Thought is the product of the past; it can only exist through verbalization, through symbols, through images.
