Emo me…
Cannot even recall when I did a post that’s emo. I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever get emo again ever since the craziness started at work. Its good to be crazy, cause that means the company’s getting noticed. But its bad when the craziness starts eating into all our personal space. I know my partner, molemole is very exhausted. Especially when you see her getting from the pretty girl to the tired looking woman now. I feel it woman! We’ll take a break after the craziness ok? I promise! BKK?
Why the sudden need to want to be emo you asked? Because I broke down, totally lost myself just now. After the office cleared, after I replied all the backdated emails, after I rushed down to his block, I broke down at the sight of him. Seems so long since I last saw him. I am guilty for not spending time with him. I am guilty of not being able to help him prepare for Hari Raya like how I did for the past 5 years. I am guilty for not doing my part as his other half. I am a guilty girl.
I am relieved now that he said he understands. I am relieved now that he said he still cares. I am relieved now that I know he still knows I’m around for him. I am relieved now knowing that I will be able to focus my mind on the craziness for the next 11 days and still be able to have him by my side (mentally).
Thank you for understanding. Thank you for your love. Thank you for the space you’re giving me. Thank you very much.
So for the next 11 days, I will be on a long roller coaster ride. I don’t know how many falls I will have to meet, I don’t know how many screams I will face. I will be strong. And I will fight till the end.
Why INQ Mini 3G is Cool
Last night, at Supperclub, INQ mobile and Singtel launched INQ Mini 3G in Singapore. So what’s this INQ mobile brand all about?

more on their website
I’m going to keep all the techie stuff out from this post, you can find detail run down of the INQ Mini 3G from Tech65 and Techielobang. Here, I’m going to go a little bimbotic artistic in this post of Claud talks Gadgets, because the INQ Mini makes me feel so colorful and artsy! Here’s 10 reasons why…
Wonder if anyone spotted this on the box. Find it very cool leh. That’s the first thing I noticed while I got hold of the box.
When have you ever spotted such artsy box on a mobile? I know this is my first time.
Many many colors to choose from! Not sure if it’ll all be available here though. Got to wait and see.
I love love love love love love these help cards! I’m going to stick them next to my workdesk.
Behind these beautiful cards are simple guide on the main features of the phone. Never have I enjoyed going through phone manual this much! I keep flipping through them over and over!
Again, its the box! Wahahaha! Yes, I think I’m obsessed with the whole packaging! Impressed by inside too!
USB mini charger! Can charge on any USB port.
Singtel AMPed comes with INQ Mini 3G too. Music anyone?
Where can you find such pretty menu in a phone?
Google search right from the homescreen using their widgets feature.
Here’s how the phone looks like…
INQ Mini 3G will be available from Saturday! Look out for details on where you’ll be able to try it out coming soon. Just in time to flaunt it during Hari Raya! Tweet, facebook and IM your friends anywhere anytime! O_^
My Feet Mission at Shimmer and Shine
Remember the mission I said I’ll do with my feet? Yap! That one that made Molemole went Wahahahaha! non-stop. The mission which I planned to do in support for “Are You Being Served?“. Ya! That one lah!
Well, Diana did a mission recently to test the reaction of the staff from a tourist attraction place. Head over and read, hers is damn funny! Mine is surely not as “fun” as I’d expected it to be. So what happened to my feet?
I walked my tired feet to Rivervale Mall from home that night. It was almost 8 when I reached the place. And they closes at 10pm. Its a new beauty salon with manicure, pedicure, facial and massage services. The place is very nicely designed and gives a very classy feel. A rare sight in a neighborhood mall. So there I went, my feet stepped in and my eyes darted around the place for the price list.
Two ladies were at the counter when I entered and immediately they approached me to see how they can help. Did a recording of the conversation, not very clear cos the phone wasn’t power enough to record surround sound lah. So not putting it up. Else you’ll just hear my super low and irritating voice. Wahahahaha!
The gist of the conversation, is where I asked about the different types of pedicure and then decide on the classic pedi, where later the young lady boss tried upselling to me to the up it to their Spa pedi where they use OPI products and they will apply mask for my leg.
During the process, the lady boss was very friendly and she didn’t hard sell like some other places which I’d been to. I was told to pick the colors before I sat down, hence I couldn’t try the testing of multiple color mission. *FAIL!* -___-|| But I did stood there for the longest time staring at the rows of colors and asked them to suggest the hottest and most popular colors to me. But all the colors they choose kenna rejected by me! Wahahaha! Seriously, I’m not into bright orange, yellow and pink nails leh. Though I rejected their ideas their face didn’t change, still smiling and allowing me to take my time to look at the colors. I am pleased.
Since it was my first time doing pedicure, the clumsy me didn’t know what to do nor where to sit. I almost tripped while getting to the seat and after I sat down, I almost gave the pedicurist a kick on the face! Seriously, if that happened, it WASN’T on purpose!
My pedicurist was still learning the trades I think, she was taught through the steps for my feet spa session by another lady. Though she is new to the service, she was very professional and did a very good job trimming my super long and ugly toenails and removing the pretty bad layer of cuticles around it. She even asked if I’d not been for pedicure for a long time, then I told her “Erm, its my first time leh.” She gave me the disbelief look! I can imagine she thinking, “Wah! This woman never done pedicure before? She gave her first to me leh!” Ok, I digressed…
The service by my pedicurist is very good. Through the session, I asked her question when she does something different. For example, when she was scrubbing my feet, I asked why she is doing it and said it tickled. Very tempted to give my leg a jerk but that will be too nasty of me. She was very patient with me and didn’t mind my stupid questions. The lady boss also came back often to check how’s thing going and if everything was alright. Chatted with her while waiting for my nail paint to dry, and got to know that she started this shop with 2 other friends and was previously working at the other mani-padi place just few steps away from her shop. I asked if her boss would mind her snatching away business, but in fact, it was her previous boss that recommended she take up the space for her own business. Very brave ex-boss she has!
And hor, when I was chatting with her, I really ended up damaging my nail paint! My left thumb nail was scratched my my right thumb nail. The lady who painted my nail wasn’t around and had placed back the nail color. So the lady boss had to walk back and forth to find the right shade of color to help me touch up. I feel damn pai say lah! And for the record, this WASN’T done on purpose!
At the end of the session, which lasted almost 2 hours (with express manicure), I was the one who got tired. Asked too many questions already. It was one of my most tiring pedicure session ever lah! My planned to sabo them ended up being a sabo to myself! Wahahaha! But overall I still enjoyed the session very much and will surely be going back for their service whenever I need some pampering on my feet and hands.
The place I went?
Shimmer and Shine
Rivervale Mall, next to Daiso.
(YES! There’s Daiso in Sengkang! Muahahahaha! Ok I digressed again!)
Do you have similar experiences? Or do you have any mission which you hope to try out to test the service quality in Singapore? Head over to Are You Being Served? to read and share experiences.
CtG on Sony Vaio W
Yes! Finally something happening here and its for my “column” Claud talks Gadgets. After two weeks of trying out on the Sony Vaio W, here’s what I’ve got to say…
The Sony Vaio W is suitable for those who wants a basic machine to surf the internet, watch videos, browse through photos and do light work on their on-the-go notebook. Guess that’s why Sony Vaio W is known as “The Perfect Leisure Companion“. When you’re on leisure, you really don’t want to be packing heavy machine and doing heavy duty work on it. Great for short get aways from work. (That’s why I think I need one! Wahahahaha!)
The rounded edges and smooth surface makes the Vaio W looks sleek and stylish. Well, its a Sony after all, form and design is essential elements in their products isn’t it?
Been long since I typed on a mini keyboard, and with more than a month long of not trimming my fingernails, typing on the Vaio W isn’t as fast as I hope to. However I have to give credits to their carefully designed touchpad and mouse keys. Mousing around on the touchpad was a breeze.
Coming with your purchase of the Sony Vaio W, you will find Vaio Media plus software, where you can use to access and manage your photos and music files. Having used a Vaio back in my previous job, I believe this software will be a welcome to those who can’t live without their music in the notebook and for those who camwhore everywhere. With Vaio W, you can now view your pretty and handsome photos on a 10.1-inch wide, LED backlit display. See already even more pretty and handsome! See even my meow, Yuniko, looks cuter on the screen.
The Sony Vaio W weighing at only 1.19kg including the battery, you can bring it everywhere. No bags to carry also never mind, with such pretty notebook, no need to hide! You should flaunt it! But be careful not to scratch it! I know how painful it can get in your heart if you see a scratch on your notebook!
The Sony Vaio W is now available in stores and retailing at S$899 inclusive of GST.
Yuniko’s Photography Series
Sneak peek…
Yuniko Boy Profile Pic #1
This is how he shows his affection
Over the next one week (or maybe more), I will be posting Yuniko’s photo over at my Photography blog. He has taken over all the toys that I spent more money on before I met him. Now, my viewfinder can only spot him.
Yuniko is on twitter, if you’re interested and curious to know what’s going on in his life, follow @yuniko10’s tweets! He twitpic and twitvid too!
Here’s his first twitvid…
That reminds me, my Play Imaginative membership card is ready for collection. Anyone wants to go Illuma with me?
To catch – The Blind Side
I am getting way old. And I hate it when I miss something that I’d planned to watched or attend. Usually what I do is to bookmark the site and remind self to go catch it. But 99.9% of the time I will still forget! So I hope by blogging here, and when friends and relatives see it and if they remember it, perhaps I will have someone kind enough to remind me to go catch the show I planned to when its out in the Cinemas. Or better still, buy me the DVDs when its available if I missed it! LOL!
Ok, so the first one to my new list here is The Blind Side.
“The Blind Side” depicts the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Touhys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.
Thanks to Daniel’s tweet, I chanced upon this movie. And with Sandra Bullock in it and with such beautiful story, the Cancerian in me is NOT going to miss it! The show opens Novemeber 20th!
I have no time to catch her current show The Proposal and I’m already hating myself. But The Blind Side, I WILL NOT miss! Someone, anyone! Please help remind me when it opens here in Singapore will you? Thank you very much!
Meet Yuniko My Meow
After years of yearning for my own meow, I am finally a mommy of one! May I introduce to all my meow……
Hellooooo Yuniko!
It was love at first sight when we saw him at SPCA today. He showed his affection with few strong scratches on my chest and arm when I hugged him the first time. After some getting along he is getting cozy in my arm now. His given name was Niko and I decided to add “Yu” in front because I like “Y” and Abang’s name is Yuzreeeee (not the real spelling), so my meow is call Yuniko.
He’s gentle, tame and well behave (so far). He’s 5 months old and a gray tabby cat. Yuniko will look at you with his watery yellowish-green eyes when you call his name. Like all cats, he likes to be stroked and rubbed on his head, nose and chin. His tail is long and nicely shaped. His fur is soft and cuddly. And he’s my meow!
Guess this blog will soon be taken over by him! Wahahahaha!
Meow!
Two Vs Make a W
Finally! Claud talks Gadgets will have a new post soon! Cos now I’ve got new toy to play with for the next 2 weeks. Its been awhile since I got new toy to play. Firstly because this woman is crazily immersing herself in the sea of work and is calling for help (Secondary School grads may apply too!), secondly this woman isn’t getting as many engagements as before (most probably due to what I am doing now or maybe people are getting bored with this blog) and also because this woman is aging faster than she should (again due to work).
VV = W? Its the new Vaio W
Although I still cannot leave home or office without my MBP as my schedule and tasks are all stuck inside waiting for my dear iPhone 3GS to arrive (hopefully soon), I will try my best to bring this Vaio W out to test it. Perhaps its time I try this function thinggy that Diana has been raving about on Vaio W. Good thing this Vaio W runs WinXP! The previous Vaio I played with was on Vista. (You should know what people say about Vista. -_____-||)
The Vaio W I have now is white. If only it was the brown one, I’ll probably bring it out more often. Anyway, the reason for this new toy to play is because, this woman is taking part in the “Make me the W ambassador” Competition supported by SONY. Total of 6 bloggers are involved. (Go check the facebook page to find out more.) I will try my best to win the judges choice prize so that my extra help at the office will get to use this cute Vaio W during office hour. If not, you’ll have to bring your own laptop! Wahahaha! Ya loh! New start-up company is like that loh! Can save money must save mah! LOL!
I shall not waste too much of your time now. Going to bed. Its 4am on a Saturday! And its drizzling outside! WTH am I still awake? *facepalm*
Sending my feet for a mission
My poor feet has gone through some serious damaging lately. Walking for long hours and distance, chasing for buses, squeezing in those wrapped up shoes, my feet needs some pampering soon!
One of the project I’m doing for 24seven, is to come up with a mission to test the service level of establishments in Singapore. We all encounter good and bad services everyday. From the public transport driver’s reckless driving, to the auntie at the coffee shop who makes sure our table is free from dirty plates and unsightly grease. Everywhere there will sure be similar encounters. And that’s what a service squad has been set up to do.
Are You Being Served the way which is acceptable in your own level of expectations? Have you ever met with a super good service that you filled up a customer feedback card to compliment their effort? I know I have (while I’m in HCM).
Some facts I got from Are You Being Served website…
To give you the low-down on service in our tiny island, Are you being served? is a blog that investigates all service matters and engages in real life “missions”. We give kudos to the good and to the not-so-satisfactory gentle nudges in the right service direction. (Why not do the same? After all, they might impress you the next time!)
In support for the project I’m working on, I decide to go on a mission too! And I’m sending my feet for this. Here’s what I plan to do…
Mission: To test the staff’s product knowledge and service level at unexpected moment.
Going for pedicure for the first time, I want to understand all types of pedicure services available. I’ll get the lady to explain to me in detail each of their service in order to decide which I will take. Then during the color selection to paint my nails, I will get the lady to try as many color as possible on my toenails so that I can make my decision. (I am a fussy woman lah!) Then during the pedicure session, my leg will suddenly get a bad cramp when she’s painting my nails. I wonder how she will react…
I will be going for this mission sometime next week. Will then share my experience with you again.
Have you encountered any good or bad services before? Why not share about them too at Are You Being Served website? Alternatively, if you have some whacky ideas for a mission, you can also submit them to the service squad! Maybe they’ll pick it up and conduct the mission!
Can’t wait to see how the lady will react to my feet’s mission! *grinz*

Sunday Funout with Minmin
Last Sunday, it was Minmin day! It was THE day that Abang and I will always look forward to every month.
That morning, we picked Min up at 10am and head over to Kallang for breakfast. It was something we don’t get to do often. After breakfast, we headed over to Sims Drive for a K1 race with fellow blogger friends.
The concept of K1 was born when CS Racing and the Singapore Motor Sports Association came together with one common goal – to develop the future of Motorsports in Singapore by raising awareness and interest among the community.
There was also a F1 model car on display for photo taking and display of photos from past F1 seasons too. Infusing the F1 experience even in the neighborhood. How I wish the K1 karting experience would be around Sengkang! How can not take photos since we’re there leh?
Before getting ourselves into the race, everyone will have to sign an indemnity form. Maciam like sign our life away lah! But this is necessary for all such activities. Nothing to worry about, cause safety always come first for the organisers and helpers at the carnival.
Minmin wanted to drive around the circuit too, but she’s underage. So we took a photo with the K1 karts instead. She was a little shy as usual at first, but eventually went for it, the temptation too hard to resists. There was also a little boy who was crying out loud at the carnival, wanting to join his elder sisters and father in the race, but he’s way too young for it. The organisers pacified him by bringing him in to take a shot with the K1 kart on display too. This display is for use at the safety talk prior to every race.
Experience with the kart was fun! Though speed limit was capped at 25km/h for safety reason at such carnival, driving the K1 kart around the narrow circuit was still quite a challenge and still as exciting. I’m sure the other bloggers who were there all have their stories to tell. Links to their post at end of this post. Abang went for the race too. He loved it! And we’ll be doing it again!
If you would like to give K1 karting a try too, head over to their carnival over the next few Sundays! Each race at $5.

Counting down to Singapore 2010 (Part 1)
Year 2010! This is the year where so many important events will be taking place. Personally, work wise and nation wise. 2010 is a very nice number and it being an “even” year makes it even more meaningful. Don’t you see that most of the major events around the world surrounds the “even” year?
Yes, I am labeling this as “Part 1″ because there will be many posts upcoming that will be related to the count down for 2010. I is very excited lah!
So, for Part 1, I am going to dedicate to YOG2010.
To commemorate the countdown to Singapore YOG2010, the organizers gave out limited edition pin on Twitter. I chanced upon it and spread the tweet out too. And for doing so, and hash tagging it with #singapore2010 I got myself this cute little pin…
YOG2010 Limited Edition Pin
Yap, that’s how cui I look… lack of sleep and rest and unhealthy diet is NOT good for your health! Don’t do it! For me, its bo pian.
Anyway, behind the card printed…
365 Days to the first Youth Olympic Games
The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games is just 365 days away – with the spirit of vibrant energy going stronger everyday. To commemorate the one-year countdown event on 14 August 2009, a limited edition souvenir pin featuring the Spirit of Youth emblem has been specially designed.
The souvenir pin has been created in celebration of the city’s progress and oneness towards inspiring youth to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect in all spheres of life.
Not sure if they’re still giving out this pin, why not follow @singapore2010 on twitter to find out?
An NDP I’ll always remember
NDP09 filled with hearts
This year’s National Day Parade is of very special meaning to me. Being involved in much more than what I thought I could. And it has been a very valued experience. I am looking forward to the many NDPs to come!
In points:
24seven’s involvement in NDP09’s new media support, integration and training.
Getting to meet and work with the great team behind NDPeeps.
Getting to watch the parade before anyone else with group of bloggers.
Attended my very first NDP parade on the Nation’s birthday.
Sharing some shots I took with the powerful gear I managed to hook myself up with for NDP09…

Toys Galore! 2nd Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention
Stash from STGCC 2009
I missed last year’s convention and I’m glad I made it for the preview this time round! Yes! I’m talking about Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention! I was expecting a little more then what I saw, but still it was good! Might pop by over the weekend to get more toys if I’m in the area.
Above are things I bought and got from the convention. If I had any more cash with me, I might end up with more! I am very very weak at cute and photograph-able toys!
Let me give you a quick rundown on some of the exhibitors at Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention. Do note that I am only sharing those that interest me, there are much more to see and drool for.
First up, The Dooodolls from Malaysia.
Dooodolls at STGCC
Created by Darren Chen, a graphic designer by day and moonlights as a yoga teacher by night. Dooodolls started from his love of drawing; a passion so great that he wanted to bring his creations to live, and to share them with friends and loved ones.
I love the touch and feel of Dooodolls. Made from fine Softlon, the plushies are sooo huggable and ohhh-sooo-nice to touch! I loveee it! If that big red fellow a.k.a. Reddish was available for sale at $60, I would have brought it home immediately! Sadly, it was not for sale. And $60 was the price of a 24-inch plush. The yellow fellow a.k.a. Missy Micey is from the series of horoscope collection. Yap, that’s for my zodiac. She is a protector of Mother Nature and all things living. Sounds like a cancerian alright!
Go check Dooodolls out at Booth C05.
Next, there’s this group of young and cheerful team from 2:Spot Studio.
2:Spot Studio
2:Spot Studio is from Bangkok, Thailand. Their design philosohy is to make emotional character brand that kids will understand and love at first sight. They have five different characters under their belt and my favorite among them is Bloody Bunny!
Based on a short animation, Bloody Bunny is a discarded bunny doll who comes to life to avenge for its long lost owner. The story is set in a dark gothic world where dolls are living creatures with good and evil purposes.
I forgot to ask how much the price for Bloody Bunny figurine! Now looking at the photo, I am tempted to bring one home! Only bought the keyring and a purse with Bloody Bunny on it.
2:Spot Studio is exhibiting at Booth D06.
The next one shouldn’t be unfamiliar to the general public here in Singapore. You see this piece of white tofu everywhere, even in your wet market!
To-Fu Oyako and Designer Devilrobots
These cute To-Fu and many other characters are available at Play Imaginative (pi.) booth located at the extreme right side of the convention hall, J11. I was eyeing on the 4-inch baby To-Fu which was selling at $20. Good thing my eyes darted fast enough to spot the membership recruitment counter for pi. For $20 sign-up fee, I’ll get Baby To-Fu, a Strawberry To-Fu notebook and my choice of membership card design for pi. More value for money lah! So now, I’ll get 10% discount at Play imaginative store at Iluma. This is NOT a good sign! *looks at wallet*
Before I left the convention, I exchanged $10 of one-dollar coins and spinned for the To-Fu Oyako magnets. I should have spinned till I get the full set! Now I’ve got 4 from the series of 7. *heart itchy*
That’s all I’m going to share with you! Go check out the convention yourself this weekend! Bring lots of CASH yio! Muahahaha!
Ending this post with more photos from the show…

UP – I cried at a cartoon comedy
Yes! Its a GREAAAAAAAT movie! UP is my No. 1 favorite animation right now! Just like Mr John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar Animation Studios say, “Story is king.” And UP sure lives up to that!
I caught the show in 3D and I want to watch it again! Non-3D this time, cause after awhile, the 3D effect doesn’t seem to be as 3D as it is half-way through the show. It didn’t really pop, you know what I mean?
This movie is surely written to fit and to be enjoyed by everyone no matter how old you are. The story is great and the animation was (as expected) great too. But if the story was any different, the impact might not be as powerful as it is now. Believe it or not, I cried four times during the movie! Yes! FOUR time during a comedy show!! I very emo loh!
*Spoiler Alert*
The four moments when I cried…
During the fast forward growing old process of Carl and his life with his loving wife, Ellie.
When Ellie dies.
When Carl battles between saving Kevin and the house.
When Carl finally saw the remaining adventures Ellie filled the album with. And I burst into tears when he saw the message at the last page.
These parts might not have much impact on the kids, but I am sure adults watching this movie will be moved by the affection and love between Carl and Ellie. The kids will enjoy the show as it is. The beautiful colors, the floating house, the round, cute and at times irritating Russell, the talking dogs and funny bird.
This show will grow old with me! Can’t wait for the DVD to be released! If I’ve got blue-ray player, I’ll get the blue-ray disc for sure!

Muji Masking Chop
Have you seen this before?
Muji Masking Chop
When I saw it at Muji (ION Orchard), I just had to get it! Didn’t even look at the price till I was at the cashier counter! $13 for a masking chop sounds ex. But let me show you the usefulness of this amazing little chop!
I first discovered such chop at Carrefour. But I didn’t get it cause at that point of time, the chop seems useless for me. Then one day when I was clearing my stack of letters, and tying my best to tear it as small as possible so that the address, account number, etc will not be revealable should anyone want to piece the torn pieces together. It was that day where I realised I should have gotten that masking chop!
Address on Envelop
So let’s say this is a letter with your address printed on it, what you do at home is usually tear it off before throwing away right? Unless you’ve got a shredder at home, then that’s a different story. For me, I tear them off everytime so that people will not get to see my address.
And this is what the Muji Masking Chop looks like…
Muji Masking Chop Inside
Before you dump the envelop away, you just need to chop the stamp over it and no one will get to see what was written below the chop!
Details Masked!
This way, you will even be able to reuse the envelop! Cool right? Wahahaha! That’s why I bought it immediately when I saw one at Muji! And yes, its refillable, so when the ink runs out, you just have to fill up with the stamping ink refill. Now I don’t have to tear my letters up anymore! Just chop, chop, chop and I can dump them in the bin without having to worry what others might do with my details should they pick it up.

Setting up your first office
Haven’t been sharing much about my life, so I decided to add one more post to my Claud the panda Entrepreneur series. I’m sharing my experience and journey setting up our new office.
24seven's Office aka My second home
Two months ago, my team and I were struggling to keep up with the high cost of rental for the atas office with great address, great branding, great facilities and great view of the Singapore skyline from the 48th floor. That’s a dream place to be for anyone be it for an office space or a living home. Like many entrepreneur, we aim high, we over dream and under calculated. Actually I thought I’ve already over calculated our finances, but guess my timing of the whole thing isn’t that accurate afterall. So when the bank starts running dry, I panicked. Not going to let the rental drag us all down, I made an executive decision. MOVE!
After we confirmed our move out date from the old office, the team decided that if we can’t find a decent place with good rental, we will work from home for awhile till we can find a space. But I know that will hurt us in terms of client’s and partner’s trust and their thought of the company. This is something I realised when we just started out. Working from home though save us lots of operational cost, but when we meet clients and when the asked about where we are residing, the words “working from home” seems to be an omen. Those words kind of caused our first few failed pitches. The clients perhaps feel that we are some small sleezy company which don’t even have a proper space to work at. And because of the nature of our business, an office space is not an option.
During the last two weeks before we have to clear the room, I spent all my time trying to look for a location. The team was called to discuss about the possibilities we had. And just a week before we had to move, I signed and confirmed on a corner unit, 258sqf space at a retro looking (and smelling) shopping centre along Upper Serangoon Road. The space is surely bigger than our previous one, but minus all the great thing that the old one came with. But we are happy with what we have now.
We got the keys to our new office a day before we had to vacant from the previous. So on the day we collected the keys, we started setting it up already. Armed with paint cans, brushes, lots of newspaper, two big plastic mats and no light (because we thought there wasn’t any), Diana and myself with some help from couple of friends, we gave the office space new fresh paint. And then the silliest moment through our setting-office-experience was on that very same day, when Abang decided to press the power switched and THERE WAS POWER! There was actually light during the entire time we were painting in there! -___-||
Anyway, so the next day, with help from Diana’s husband and his workers, they moved everything out from the office which filled the entire lorry space, and move in to our new home. The office needed more furniture and stuff, we were planning to get them when we have spare cash, but thanks to my Dad’s ‘office-renovation-friend’ we managed to secure many old office furniture which were in very good condition! That saved us almost $1,000! Starting up isn’t easy, its great we managed to have such (free) opportunities.
Within three days, the not-so-nice office space got revamped and turned into a cosy and homely place for 24seven. I must thank Diana for her hardwork and never-say-die attitude during the move. I can never do it without her. Don’t see her small small size ok! She’s damn strong and powerful one! Don’t play play with her!
So that’s the physical part of the setting up of the office. Which was the not so pocket-painful part. Unless you want a super sexy and sleek office that cost a bomb to renovate and setup. For a startup, please, don’t do this kind of thing ok? If you’ve got huge sugar daddy or mommy backing you up, then I’ve no comments.
Here comes the pocket-painful and paperwork that I was involved in. Very useful if you’re going to set up your own office too.
After you’ve found your ideal space, and if it is within a shopping centre or a non-office building, these are (or may be) some of the things that you’ve to be prepared to do:
Get in touch with the property owner or its representing agent.
Check the rental rate and arrange for a viewing session.
During the viewing session, ask as many questions as you have. Some questions which you might want to ask may include:
What does the rent include? For central-controlled aircon, usually it will come together with the rent. So you just have to pay for the electricity bill charged by PUB.
Who was the previous owner? What business were they running? You don’t want loan shark or what not to come banging on your door do you?
What is the minimum lease period and how much deposit do they need? Lease period usually is for 1 year that guarantees your rental rate during that year. For ours, we had to pay a 2 month deposit with 1st month rental upon confirmation of occupancy.
Check if they have a rent-free renovation period and how long it is. This will give you a week or two of rent-free period for your renovation. In our case, we had 11 days of rent free operation since we completed our “renovation” within 3 days. Some property might need you to pay an admin fee and a renovation deposit too if there’s hacking, tearing, drilling etc involved. So make sure you check before any renovation work is carried out.
Check when’s the rental payment date. You don’t want to miss this date!
will add more if I can think of any…
After you’re satisfied and want to take up the space, try to negotiate for a cheaper rental.
Sign a lease agreement with the property’s representing agent. This is also when your first cheque of the required deposit and first month’s rental has to come out.
For shop space converting to an office space, a “Change of Use” Lodgment Submission has to be filed with URA. You’ll have to pay $300 + GST for this application. A copy of the lodgment submission have to be submitted to the representing agent you signed the lease with.
Next, you’ll have to proceed to SP Services to activate your corporate utilities account. For this, a $450 deposit is needed and an activation date has to be set where you will have to be present at the office where SP Services will sent someone to “activate” the power supply.
I’m not sure how the actual activation was supposed to be like, cause our power was already available when we moved in. The SP Services guy just came, take the meter reading and left. -_-||
We didn’t need a physical phone line, so we skipped this part. If you need a phone line at the office, I think you’ll also need to activate it with Singtel. For us we use our mobile and mobile broadband in the office. Save money lah!
That’s about it. If you managed to cover all the above, you’re good to go. Just remember to pay your rental and SP bills on time! And that reminded me, I’ve got to pay ours soon!
Good luck in setting up your dream office! Perhaps our cosy office can give you some inspiration. Wahahahahaha!

8:22 The Pledge Moment
When was the last time you took the pledge? I did that for 12 years from Primary to Secondary School and another 3 years when I was teaching. After that it was I think once in a blue moon. Back in school we were taught about the pledge and why it is important for all Singaporeans to know it. Its part of our education and believe in the meaning and history of Singapore and the pledge (and national anthem) that brought us this far, being independent for 44 years and still going strong as a Nation. Since this year’s NDP focus is our Pledge, and 24seven being their partner, I attempted to do a video in support of the Pledge Moment. And here’s the result of a almost 20minutes struggle infront of my isight…
I know, you must be laughing your socks off right now. What’s so difficult about taking the pledge? No its not. Its the mind taking control of the whole recording and with Diana sitting right infront of me sure makes it even more difficult! But I did it and here’s the proper video with subtitle (in case you don’t understand my bad English pronunciation).
Now that you’ve watched me do it, you can do it too and win a NDP09 Funpack! Yes! Over at 24seven, we are giving out 15 Funpacks to those who complete the video and tasklist. Go check it out here. You’ve got till 12 Aug 2009 to submit your entry. I want to give you funpacks! Go get it will you? Go! Go!! Go!!!
LG Viewty Smart – My Temp Digi Camera
If you’ve noticed, photos posted by moi has been either from my mobile phone or my Nikon D40 which I rarely use these days. Cause its acting cranky! Sadly no one bought me the Canon 500D for my birthday. My Canon IXUS was sold as it was under used and I don’t want it to end up like my Fuji Z3 which I can’t recall where I kept it. But I know its still somewhere around my room. So anyway, to replace and fill my need to take photos wherever I go, I’m using the LG Viewty Smart GC900 which I was seeded before CommnicAsia. Untill today, I’ve never used it as a phone since I’ve got the N97 which matches my needs more than the LG Viewty Smart.
Since I can’t use two phones at the same time, the LG Viewty Smart ended up being my stand-by digital camera. Just because I love the Art Shot and Beauty Shot feature. And to be fair, it takes pretty decent photos too. As compared to my old Samsung Innov8, this phone takes clean and clear shots in the day too and the night shot on low ISO is pretty neat also. Will have samples as I share my experience with the LG Viewty Smart in this post. (Keep scrolling!)
To show you the features and how the LG Viewty Smart camera works, I’ve done a quick demo video of it. In HD somemore! This video should give you a good idea of why I am using it as my temp digital camera.
Demo of LG Viewty Smart
And while you’re still ogling over the camera features and UI, go check out what Tetanus did to his LG Viewty Smart! Damn hardcore I tell you!
That
If you’re looking for a replacement to your digital camera, the LG Viewty Smart might be the one for you. Can go explore and try it out more when its out in store. But personally, I cannot tolerate the slowness of the phone and the tendency to lag whenever I use it. I’ve seen Diana used it all these while, and seems like she’s enjoying it. Different users have different preference and tolerance level, so you got to go try it out yourself.
Now let me share some shots I took with the camera over the weekend…
Taken with LG Viewty Smart Art Shot (Cold)
Photo montage created using Picasa NOT a feature of the phone!
Very emo feel right?
As you can see, I really love the cold effect from the camera! Makes me feel very “Lomo” whenever I see a shot. But sadly, special effect shots can only take at 1MP (1280 x 960) instead of the usual 8M.
Also tested taking with night shot mode and these are what I got…
Waiting for fireworks at Marina Square
And here’s a video taken over the weekend of the Fireworks at NDP09 NEshow 3 from outside Marina Square recorded with LG Viewty Smart…
Fireworks Display Outside Marina Square
Finally, a comparison of the ISO settings for a night shot. First shot taken at ISO 400, second at ISO 200 and the last one taken at ISO 100.
ISO test at 400, 200 and 100
What do you think of the 8MB camera on the LG Viewty Smart phone? Not bad huh? Yap, that’s the beauty of this phone. Nuff’ said.

My 24hrs in TANGS (Part 1)
From 6pm on 17 July to 6pm on 18 July 2009, 10 bloggers lived 24hrs of their lives inside TANGS display windows for a blogging challenge. I was one of the 10 bloggers who were selected for this campaign. It took me more than a week to recover from the lack of sleep and up till today, my clock is still struggling to get back to the usual settings.
Why did we do it?
It was an opportunity to for the sponsors to showcase firstly, the Intel ultra-low voltage processors in a lifestyle setting and educate about the technology behind the Lenovo IdeaPad U350 laptop. And to excite the audience to enable them to see that technology can become a fashion accessory too. Especially with the Lenovo IdeaPad U350 for the “ultramobile road warriors” out there. And for Tangs, its to launch their revamped website and to direct traffic amongst the bloggers and passerbys to enter Tangs.
Personally, I’m doing this because of several reasons, and no, winning the challenge is NOT one of them! Firstly, because I know all the three sponsors personally and I want to support their campaign. Secondly, this was like a survivor challenge inside Tangs, when will anyone get to do such crazy things again? And thirdly, I wanted to experience how it would be like looking out from inside the display windows for 24hr. I was expecting to see crazy things in the middle of the night along Orchard Road, but sadly, nothing happened. It was all peaceful and quiet on the Friday night.
Getting Ready
Preparing for the 24hr away from home, as usual I over packed my stuff. This is very common for me! I always bring more than I should when I travel or go for stayovers. I’m the kind of person who needs everything around me *just in case* I need them. So for the neither long nor short 24hr, these were what I packed…
Barang Barang I brought to #bthon
Inside my big Simpsons bag, I have a smaller black bag which I call my “Run to toilet” bag. As we’re only given 10-mins of toilet break every 2hr, I want to make sure I have all the things I need at the toilet within reach when my toilet break comes. Inside holds three smaller pouches which holds:
wet wipes, facial tissues and body powdersheet.
body mist, perfume, hand lotion, Kiehl’s multi purpose balm and evian mineral water spray
basic makeup stuff which I didn’t use
Then I also have three mobile phones and their respective charger with me, my DSlite and charger, Sony Walkman, multi-plug, usb hub, Nikon D40 and tripod. Out of this list, I only used the Nikon D40 for less than 3 hours and the DSlite for 15mins! The heaviest bulk in my bag and I never even used more than half of them! FAIL!
And the other stuff you can see from the above photos. All also not used except for the whiteboard and stuff.
My Outfit (Sponsored by Tangs)
For all 10 bloggers, we were given S$500 each to shop for a set of outfit that we have to wear throughout the 24hr. Its all about being comfortable and cosy for me. So I picked my usual choice of outfit. Total price was pretty close to the S$500 limit.
What I wore at #bthon
Tokidoki T-shirt from the Spring 2009 collection
Tokidoki Women Geo Half Sleeves Storm Hoody
Living Doll black pants
Fred Perry Sunpower Gingham in Black/White
Beside the outfit sponsored by Tangs, all of us also got our choice of products from Kiehl’s worth up to S$200. I will share more about them in my next post. More thoughts and photos will be coming up soon!
Changing Directions
Taking small steps to improve and change the directions of this website. I don’t think I’m calling it a blog anymore since I’m using lesser these days to log my daily encounters. For that I’ve got my other blog and my twitter. So I am changing the kind of content and purpose here at Claudia.sg.
New Blog. New Theme. New Direction.
My first step to it is to change the look and feel. Going back to the magazine style which I did once. Now what I need is a logo that represents my purpose. Will be running a mini contest to call for logo submission soon. Do keep a look out for it.
And with new directions, I am looking out for passionate writers who would like to contribute to this site. Drop me a message here and let’s have a chat.
Adjusting my inner clock
After a week from blogathon, I’m still not fully adjusted with my inner clock. Two nights within this week of insomnia and the hectic working hours are adding more stress. I need to find time for myself. If only I could stop thinking and doing work after working hours. If only I could take few days leave to give myself the “ME” time. None of that happening anytime soon.
Till I have more ME time, this blog will probably be in hiatus. When I do return, it should hopefully be with a new skin for my blog too.
Have switched my host to Vodien after THC died on me at the most critical timing! But since its a lifetime hosting plan, I’ll have to find purposeful use for it soon. Anyone needs a testing ground?
Hope Vodien will not fail on me. If it can holds Lester’s site well so far, I’m sure mine wouldn’t be of any problem.
Till the day I return… find me on Twitter still.

Tips on surviving 24hr with no sleep
If you were to stay awake for 24hours, what would you do? This weekend, ten of us would be put to the test of surviving a 24hr Blogathon inside TANGS display windows! Theoretically speaking, we will be living on more than 24hr without sleep from Friday to Saturday! Simple math…
Working backwards:
Sat 8pm: Reach home, shower and KO (hopefully!)
Sat 7pm: Dinner (if there’s still energy left)
Sat 6pm: End of Blogathon (#bthon)
Fri 6pm: Start of Blogathon
Fri 5pm: Reporting time to change and setup
Fri 4pm: (For myself) Meet Cheryl at Tangs to try the pair of shoes I selected
Fri 3pm: Leave home for Orchard
Fri 2pm: Shower and get ready for 24hr w/o showering!
Fri 1pm: Get some work done and assigned.
Fri 12pm: If I can make myself sleep till 12pm that’ll be best! If I jump out of bed before 12pm than also no choice lah!
So you see! Base on my calculation, I will have to be awake from 12pm Fri to about 9pm on Sat. I hope I can survive that!
To prep myself for this ultimate challenge, I’m going to start listing down the things that I’ll have to bring to keep me occupied for the 24hr and some tips on how I am going to stay awake.

Happening from 1800 hr on 17th to 1800 hr on 18th July 2009.
More details coming soon.
On a week’s hiatus
I will disappear from the online world for the whole of this week. Because we are moving! We needed a bigger place at a cheaper rent. So we are moving out of our cosy little office at The Sail and into the neighbourhood. We love our $3 bowl of noodle and the $14 set lunch was hurting our own wallet a little too much. So we decided to move.
This whole week, expect to see very little of me on Twitter, MSN and don’t expect any blog post. More updates coming after we settle down in our new home office.
If you’re wondering why we need an entire week to move, visit 24seven’s blog next week to find out!
With the people that matters most
It was my best birthday thus far. And the best part is, nothing was planned by me!
Due to work, I totally left out my usual birthday party gathering planning this year. No time nor energy to think about this as I do not want to grow up anymore! Time’s passing too quickly for me to catch up.
The story started a day before my Birthday. I don’t know many days in advance my dear Diana started the planning. If my memory is right, I was told about a team meeting (which I don’t recall arranging for) a week before. And than few days before the surprise, Diana told me to stay till 9pm on Thursday as she had to leave by 6pm and some bloggers will be coming late to collect stuff from our office that night. And that’s all planned and directed by her!
On the day of the surprise, she than SMS me in the morning – The maid just left. She say the fridge connector don know what spoil. so don use or open fridge until repair. repair coming later. So I was told not to go near the fridge as she’d planted my surprise in there!
The whole day passes with occasional giggling from her, she going in and out of the office and constant MSN chatting between Uzyn, Kahwee and her. I knew they are planning something, but I thought it’ll be for my actual day as we were planning to go for lunch at Science Centre at 11.30am! Yes, that’s what we planned. Of course, all part of Diana’s set-up!
At around 6.30pm, Diana entered the room and switched off all the lights. That’s when Abang entered with my birthday cake with lighted candles! And Diana gave me this beautiful bouquet of lilies and a present they got for me. All these surprises brought me tears lah! THANK YOU ALL VERY VERY THE MUCH!!! Really didn’t expect such big surprise and so many things arranged for me!! I cannot thank enough lah! This is my BEST birthday ever! Spending it with people (my hardworking team and Abang) that matters most in my life now. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!
Ever since Diana bought her DSlite, she’d been telling me how much addicted she is to it and kept asking me to go buy one so that we can challenge one another in the games. Than she keep saying if I don’t buy, she will buy one for my birthday. Which I told her not to lah! Its so expensive can? But this woman very stubborn lah! She really went to buy a DSlite for me!! A white one somemore! Matching with my PSP and my N97! If I hadn’t changed my macbook, everything would have been white! Than I would have to get a white camera to match it. LOL!
I soooo want to squeeze this woman!!! I’m going to start planning for her birthday in October! I know I sure can control my giggles and make it an even more surprise surprise for her! Hurhur!
She even planned for dinner and a KTV session! Again she’d been asking me to join her at KTV for countless time! And that night, it happened! All thanks again to Diana and Uzyn’s suggestion. And you know what? Diana, Uzyn and Kahwee all can sing one wor! Diana’s the sweet sweet singer, Uzyn the rock and country type and Kahwee don’t know what songs to choose so we had agar-agar what he knows and choose for him. We had lots of fun singing, screaming, dancing and laughing together that night! Next time, when our team grow, we can book the bigger room and party all night long!
The night ended at 12am sharp, where they sang the birthday song. Will upload a video compilation of the happenings from that night soon.
The celebration didn’t end that night. On my actualy day, July 3, it was time alone with Abang. Its a simple but heartwarming day. It made me fun in love with him again. Its the little things and actions that made my heart all warm and fuzzy.
We visited Marina Barrage for the first time and I think we will be going back there pretty often as long as they keep the parking free! LOL! I didn’t know the place is so nice and windy! There were many families and group of friends having picnic, flying kites and also there were few others celebrating their birthday too. Marina Barrage is a good place to hang out after a day at work and just lay on the grass and stare into the sky. Lovely place to chill and take photos too! I want to go back there again soon!
After Marina Barrage, Abang brought me up to Mt Faber for dinner. He’d wanted to take me for a cable car ride before that, but I chickened out. Another reason also because I don’t see the need to spend the extra $40 for a ride to see the skyline of Singapore lah. I would rather spend it on a nice dinner. Which we did.
Dinner was at Moonstone @ The Jewel Box. Another nice find for that night! Quiet and windy place with nice view of the harbour and cable cars. The food was pretty good too. Love the seafood pizza (can’t recall the name) and the jewel box fruit salad. Price will not break any arms nor legs, and quality is there. Surely a choice place to go for chilling out with friends. But if there’s no one driving, this is a no-go for me.
Spending quiet night like this with Abang is a rare occasion. It just made it even more precious and treasured. I don’t need no fancy gifts nor flowers. I don’t need no diamond rings nor candle light dinner. Just simple pleasure and quiet times like this with you, I am contented. Thank you Abang! Love you very much!
On Saturday night (last night) was a gathering with my girlfriends at my place. Our usual games of mahjong with light snacks to munch. They had an adventure with a flasher that night when they were getting their car from the carpark opposite my block. And now I am paranoid! Hope the police catch this flasher soon! For now, I am going to stay alert whenever I’m coming home late at night, and make sure I have my camera phone with flash ready to capture his face if he ever flashes at me!
In a few hours time, I will be having steamboat and papa-cooked-crab at home with my family. We are celebrating my belated birthday and my mum’s too which is just a week after mine. Going to help them out in the kitchen now. Today’s quality time with my family. And tomorrow’s the start of our one week setting up of 24seven’s new office week! Am very excited about this! Finally a place all to ourselves! More updates on this when we are ready over at 24seven’s blog.
And that’s how I spent (am spending) my birthday weekend.
I want to be a Toys ‘R’ Us kid!
“I don’t want to grow up! I’m a Toys ‘R’ Us kid!”
If only I can stop myself from aging! But that’s just not possible. I put on another year to myself again today. But I shall be forever young! *coughs*
Last year I did this. And this year I decided to take up the Asian pose challenge for my birthday post! Wahahahahahaha!
Here goes…
happy birthday to me!
No I didn’t submit my poses for the challenge lah! Ok. Time to get back to work! I’ve fulfilled not one but two of my birthday wishes already! Happiness! Hope more will be fulfilled!
Where my present? Hurhur!
Here’s the song I’m singing right now…
