Bobo had the chance to be invited for food tasting at Village Wok. Initially this bimbo was afraid that she would have problems finding the place, with it being in CBD and all. But it was really easy to locate. It’s quite near the Food Centre just slightly off the main road.Upon entering the place, Bobo was slightly surprised. The signboard and the decor of the place itself wasn’t like other Chinese restaurants. It’s not like pretentiously posh but very very simple.. like a family business sorts. It was later when the lady boss (a pretty one) explained, that Bobo understood that this place is more of a B2B sort of business, selling its famous sauces to other eateries.It was empty that day... CBD, on Sundays, is a ghost town as every one knows. So they had all the space to ourselves and the freedom to make noise. Fantastic! haha.Popiah DIY $20 /setHonestly Bobo thinks it is a little expensive considering it’s just vegetables and stuff. BUT try preparing all these things at home then you would know what a hassle it is. It’s not only good and healthy to eat, it’s like an activity for family and friends to do. The good thing about DIY is that you can put whatever you want in it and leave whatever you want out. Yummy! Chilled Crab with Special Vinegrette Sauce @ $30 /crabBobo doesn’t really like crab. Simply because it’s troublesome. But the nice thing about this one was that they cut it up properly, so that it’s easy to eat! They didn’t need to use the hammer or weird tools to pry the meat out to eat. That aside, the flesh was sweet and fresh, tasty even without the sauce. They were told that the crabs were from Sri Lanka. The Phoenix Soars @ $21 Yin-Yang boneless Village Wok ChickenBobo loved this one. She liked its tasty flesh and there was plenty of breast meat for her to pick. Yummy.Black Pepper Ham Leg @ $23 Bobo had a very small bit of this. As above, she’s not a fan of pork so she shouldn’t comment on this, having not tasted enough versions. Village Wok Celebration Parade @ $22A combination of VW award dishes, VW Mustard Roast Crispy Pork and Village BBQ PorkFirstly, Bobo has to admit that she’s not the sort who go for such meat. But she did try the Char Siew which was ok. The presentation of this dish is pretty special in that it looked like the chinese word “fortune”. Cool eh. Steamed Pating Fish with Preserved Vegetable @ $44 Preserved Vegetable... that’s Chai Por, the thingy you have on chwee kueh? Bobo loves chai por. This particular version is not as salty as what people normally have which makes it seem healthier. But Bobo (being unhealthy) do likes salty chai por. The fish was normal she thinks. Smiling Fortune Noodle @ $8 The serving given to them was slightly smaller that day as they already had plenty to eat. Each person had a pot to themselves. It was served nice and hot with a little tealight below. Bobo liked the soup base a lot and the noodles were served at the right time, so they weren’t mushy. But she doesn’t remember eating many prawns. One maybe. or was it two? VW Desserts - Sampler sizeBlack Glutinous Rice with Coconut Ice-cream @ $4.80Lemongrass ice-creamKaya with bread Bobo liked the Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut ice cream the best. The other ice cream had a nice tinge of lemongrass in the aftertaste. But otherwise it was normal. Bobo isn’t quite a fan of Kaya but she enjoyed it all the same. It wasn’t the ultra sweet sort you get from the supermarket. The prices might seem a bit high but it IS a chinese restaurant after all and such prices are pretty common for this kind of food served there.We had the chance to taste many of their sauces which was really nice. A few days ago, a colleague tried to send Bobo an MMS... and because of that Bobo's phone hung for 2 hours. It kept restarting itself for goodness knows what reasons. And Bobo panicked at that time thinking that all the precious smses that her Love sent her would be gone! Luckily the phone stabilised after 2 hours showing a msg that it failed to receive the MMS.Bobo told this to Love who is in CHINA.. and today... Love's good friend called Bobo and asked her to meet him downstairs...And he gave her this FROM her LOVE! She unwrapped it and she found this!!Bobo is so incredibly HAPPY! Trust Love to know that Bobo isn't very good with all the high-tech stuff. DY has been a mini celebrity. Maybe not the brainiest nor the most popular but she's well-known nonetheless. She has a Manager, attends events and stuff, does some ads, appears on magazines... wait a minute.. Manager? She has a manager?!....Why is Bobo surprised? Isn't a manager suppose to do damage control? Isn't he suppose to cut down on bad publicity? Isn't he suppose to be the first person to advise her the moment all hell breaks loose?Where is he?Apparently, according to numerous sources, he is pretending to be a certain Melissa Lam and defending DY on Forums and stuff. Regardless of whether he is or not... Why isn't he doing stuff which is more important?In the first place when this plagiarism thing broke out, there are some things which are really urgent isn't it?Bobo would most certainly have:1) spoken to the client and made sure that she got all the truth from her.2) start to backtrack all her posts and put in all the citations/references/links. 3) for posts which the client cannot remember where she copied from, Bobo would put that it's an unknown source and that if the person recognises the material the person should email the client to confirm it and the client would update the post.4) go to the respective forums and post as BOBO (not under some other stupid name) and apologise on her behalf and show that the references have been put up and put in links to show that it has really been done.5) make the client do the same as (4).6) get the client to make yet-another-one of her "Act cute/Act pretty/I am so innocent" post about how sorry she was.Bobo'd say that the matter would blow over quickly and people would actually be impressed that the client was honest and sincere for once. She was carrying quite a few shopping bags. She boarded the bus at Raffles Hotel and the bus was pretty full then. She obviously didn't get a seat but managed to tuck all her paperbags between her legs on the floor and stand pretty comfortably. At the next stop, more people came onboard. An man in his seventies (probably) stood next to Bobo. When the bus started to move, it jerked and the elderly gentleman nearly lost his footing. Bobo turned, looked at him... And tears welled up in her eyes. In him, Bobo saw her own parents. Soon, Bobo's father and mother would be just like him. And still taking the public transport. Bobo doesn't have the means to let them enjoy the luxury of a car. So they would be like this man, standing on a crowded bus, not knowing when they might be pushed roughly or even fall. Tears were streaming down her cheeks and Bobo tried to control but it was just too hard. She couldn't wipe them away as she was holding on to her stuff and the pole for support. She looked at the young man (in his twenties) sitting in front of her, then at the elderly man, then back at the young man.... Conscience got the better of him and he stood up to let the uncle sit. Bobo managed a small smile. At least....
