No wonder so nice.
Yesterday, I woke up at 11ish, met a friend for lunch at 1ish,
came home after and surfed the web desultorily for an hour or so,
then passed out for an hour and a half --- before waking up for a
carbo-laden birthday dinner that nearly sent me right back to bed
again. Thank goodness that the friend whose birthday it was kindly
invited us all back to his place for (Irish) coffee afterwards, so
sleep was postponed for several hours.
To forestall a repeat of that sort of embarrassing sleep schedule
today, and since I was sick of the internet and my laptop, today I
betook myself off to a cafe to read for the afternoon.
First stop: the Cedele outlet at Frankel Avenue for decent coffee
and lunch to go with the reading. There was chocolate cake too,
which is no Lana, but still very good indeed.
Then there was Starbucks at Parkway Parade, because the friend
who'd joined me for lun[...]
GUESS WHAT? I'm free I'm free I'm free! :)
Hello! :)
It's been a long time since I last posted an entry here! I've been
terribly busy with school :( Now that the sem's more or less done
with, I can finally rest my overworked & tired brain. I've been
eating a lot of fantastic food this week to celebrate my freedom :)
haha Honestly I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to
indulge in good food! It's been so long since I've had a nice,
un-rushed and stress-free meal outside. Alright I shan't bore you
with details of what I've been doing the past two months or so
(it's just workworkworknothingelsebutwork). Instead, I'll make this
an image-intensive post so that you guys can see what Jeffrey &
I have been consuming this week.
Post-Exams at Tonkichi (Takashimaya
Branch)
Because I have been so stressed out by work & exams, I
requested to eat at a place that I've [...]
Who knew finding a suit could be such hard work?
Violet and I spent the entire weekend trawling boutiques looking for a suit I can wear to not one, but two! upcoming weddings. We’ve tried pretty much everything across a huge price range—Zara, G2000, G2 Black Label, Muji, Hugo Boss, Kenzo, Armani Collezioni, A/X, Calvin Klein, Massimo Dutti, Charles Tyrwhitt, The Library by Tangs. And, no, I didn’t even begin to consider Ermenegildo Zegna.
The ones which left an impression on me:
G2 Black Label: their slim cut range fits nice, but has weird angled pockets and very thick padding that shows at the seams. Plus all the cuts make me look very hotel concierge-looking…
Hugo Boss: surprisingly, the cut is too boxy, and didn’t compliment my body shape. And this is after trying four pieces.
Armani Collezioni: too old. Same with Kenzo.
Massimo Dutti: all suits begin at Size 46[...]
Long over due I know, but I had such a hard time trying to find a studio with my Uni’s gown. Blah.
But I’ve finally found one which is reasonably priced + has my Uni’s gown + includes make up. Yay-ness!
Now I just have to make an appointment with them.
I think I’ll change it to a weekday afternoon, if not I’ll have to take leave specially to go for the session. Damn the traffic accident. Blahh.
We just had a flea market stall this weekend. I cleared out most of my bags, tops and bottoms. Yay-hoo!!! So it’s time to buy new ones! Hee hee.
Ahhhh! It’s comingggg. I’m really, really, really worried. Many, many, many what-ifs.
It’s just around the corner! I should probably start looking around for a present. Maybe an Agnѐs B (which, inciden[...]
NTUC is the proxy of the ruling party especially since NTUC Secretary-Generals are also hardly coincidentally PAP Ministers. NTUC, besides cynically seen as the trade union steered by the ruling party, actually also functions to make life and cost of living less painful. NTUC is more than a trade union umbrella organisation. From NTUC Income to NTUC Foodfare to NTUC Fairprice, NTUC's co-op outlets are an everyday facets of Singapore heartland consumerism.
With recent rising food prices, NTUC Fairprice is the NTUC flagship in the co-op's effort in making Singaporeans deal with inflation. While HDB and the CPF Board are more direct nation-building via rootedness agencies, NTUC Fairprice is maybe a soft nation-building supermarket at a consumerism level. Hence, with the increased cost of living and the PAP's open reluctance in distributing handouts as welfare, is NTUC Fairprice [...]
Someone commented that the KTM has recently come out of the
woods out of nowhere guns blazing. Hehe. Perhaps. :-)
It is indeed true that the KTM has taken quite a long hiatus from
blogging. But truthfully, the main reason is this: the KTM didn't
find anything he wanted to blog about. The KTM isn't paid to blog
(at least not anymore), so it really doesn't matter.
Perhaps it was a writer's block? Perhaps Singapore is just really
boring? Who knows, but these last couple of days has been
interesting because the KTM now has three questions swimming in his
head. :-) Inspiration? Perhaps.
Why does the KTM care about these questions? 'cos there are no easy
answers. :-)
Just watched Akeelah and the Bee, which was really
inspirational, and as tense in its finale as the best sports movies
- having seen Spellbound, I was prepared to be on the
edge of my seat, and I'm glad it lived up to my expectations.
Anyway, this story about a mobster using $10 words in letters to
his kid (offspring? scion?) reminded me of the film:
Some of his letters from federal prison, which are being intercepted and scrutinized by authorities, are full of such words as "thespian," "flippant" and "sagacious," his lawyer said Thursday.
A new form of gangland slang, or a coded message to fellow wise guys? No, attorney Ephraim Savitt said, just vocabulary Basciano wants the recipient -- his 7-year-old son -- to learn.
Just came back from my 1st car lesson.. I was a bit hum ji…lol scare bang into ppl’s car.
Today, I’ve learnt how to move the car from stop, turning, U-turn, change lane, braking, change gear to gear 3 and dropping gear, and stop the vehicle.
And i got a serious problem, i don’t check blind spots and mirror. arrg…always forgot…and i tend to start the car abit slow…haiz…any tips to do better???
The first time he'd invited me over to his apartment it was
under the amusingly flimsy, universally clichéd pretext of watching
a DVD.
We both knew what it really meant and his lack of originality drew
from me a sardonic smile, but acquiesence. (Much later when I
brought up his modus operandi he defended himself: "At
least that way we both really knew what was being suggested, which
is infinitely better than a nasty surprise at the movies when you
suddenly realize, "OMG! He's got his hand up my skirt!")
So I went. And we did watch a DVD - to his credit, one that was
actually worth watching and not a B-grade horror film he could
pretend to be so bored by that he'd fall asleep and "accidentally"
have his head lolling over to rest on my tits - and had tea. It was
fairly awkward. I remember sitting in his living room - sparsely
upholstered with black leather and glass and whit[...]
